You are the one that will haunt me forever
filled my heart with poetic poems and songs
believing our bond could never be severed
I guess, in your world I never really belonged
Heard through the grapevine you’re feeling fine
built yourself a new life filled with new dreams
but at night at quarter past three, there’s a sign
a whisper in my ear, an apparition in moonbeams
tossing and turning in a parade of ghostly memories
cymbals clanging with darkness and perplexity
drumming of my heartbeat creating new energies
and the voice that I love is filled with complexity
in the mist, drifting back into a state of deep rem
outside a shimmering star, a one-of-a-kind gem

Mystical and marvellous. And so very sad.
ReplyDelete"tossing and turning in a parade of ghostly memories"; its difficult to part from them and they take their toll. Love the closing couplet.
ReplyDeleteI love the story-telling and how you convey love lost - and how you leave us with the shining star - Jae
ReplyDeleteLost love haunting...
ReplyDeleteI love every line and every rhyme of this wonderful poem! I, too, have a ghost like that, "a one-of-a-kind gem."
ReplyDeleteBeautifully said - the one who will haunt you forever - how I love that shining star at the end.
ReplyDeleteVery touchingly sad, Truedessa. Some loves truly are special. Once in a lifetime. Nice to have the apparition in moonbeams though as pleasant reminders!
