Dragon Tail - TN |
Chasing dragons is never an easy task
especially when you're riding it's tail
slicing through the mountainside
navigating each wondrous curve
hold on tight, use intuition and caution
a feisty unknown can be exhilarating
but, danger unfolds when entering
deep into the lair of wilderness
blazing eyes daring you onward
adventure roars fiercely in you ears
can you conquer your inner fear
maneuvering the twisty haunted terrain
listening for the sobs of time travelers
apparitions waiting for your arrival
crossing the challenging threshold
into dense forests takes courage
there is intense immersion with nature
words of wisdom to those who ride
beware of its bite...
author's note: I recently took a trip to TN and there is a road called "The Tail of the Dragon" it consists of 318 curves in 11 miles. The scenery is beautiful but, the ride is menacing. US129 a stretch of road in the Smoky Mountains.

You captured that drive very well!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Alex, Have you ever ventured the dragon? It's a scary stretch of road for sure. You can't see what's around the bend. Go slow get there safe...and think I was worried about bears.
DeleteIt sounds amazing as well as a little scarry!
ReplyDeleteLooks like an amazing trip, Truedessa, especially the road; I don’t think I’ve ever driven down a road like that! Worth it, though, for the scenery, but I’d let someone else do the driving.
ReplyDeleteI love it! Not so much into thrill rides lately, but your prose is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI understand this so well. The road to our village climbs through the mountains and there is much winding on a narrow road, where one passes huge semi trucks navigating corners with bated breath . Tourists often arrive shocked by the trip in. Smiles.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful story in verse.

I love your fantasy poem and its intrigue going into the woods.
ReplyDeleteIndeed that bite is something to be aware of and beware
ReplyDeleteWhat an experience! I have not encountered one like this. But love the intense immersion with nature but be wary of its bite.
ReplyDeleteI have spent time in TN on backroads, none as thrilling/dangerous as what you described in this beautifully composed poem!
ReplyDeleteA story well told, Tru!
