Traces of Weariness

She grows weary in the journey
pondering why roses are thorny
her soles now worn from overuse
why do willows always sing the blues

walking sticks help along the trail
pondering, will truth ever prevail
dreams offer new paths to pursue
why do willow always sing the blues

deeper into the forest she walks
overhead soars the red tailed hawk
alternate direction is hers to choose
why do willows always sing the blues

  1. I could imagine every painful step taken. The darkness on the trail - both inner and out. So beautifully written - Jae

  2. I resonate with those willows singing the blues........and the weariness. The forest is the best place to go for some peace.

Every turn from hope and light to tiredness and energy lifted me into a memory. I love the rhythm of this poem! It is so true!

  6. "dreams offer new paths to pursue" The line is like light itself dispelling darkness in whatever way that comes along the pathway. So beautifully put.
