They open the doors at precisely 3:00 pm
there is always a bartender ready to greet
offering you a chance to present your gem
slowly poets enter, there is always a seat
Some prefer the comfort of sitting at the bar
twirling their thoughts straight up on the rocks
enjoying conversations about the moon & stars
who will take the mic,
open verse on the block
Sitting at a round table discussing knight tales
mysteries of life, traveling different realms
pirates abound, on their ship they do sail
shadowy figures,
dance behind giant elms
A musician sits at the piano, playing a tune
composing a melody, writing a poetic song
heads begin to swoon, could it be a full moon
laughter fills the air, the guests sing-a-long
We gather to share our hopes and dreams
to have our voice heard, to listening ears
swept away by verses, an overflowing stream
toasting the pub for 3 years a hearty cheer
writing for dVerse celebrating 3 years..
I missed the Ode to but, this is sort of
an ode to dVerse as well. Thank you
for all you do..this place has paved
the way to many adventures upon the
seas..

ReplyDeleteHi Brian,
DeleteRaising my glass with a toast..sailing from coast to coast..
We all bring different things to the discussion, different ways of observing, different forms (or no form at all), but in the end we are all after the same thing. Beautiful words here!
ReplyDeleteHi Jeff,
DeleteDiversity with a common goal of self expression..Thank you..
Loved this, Truedessa! Yay for dVerse!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry, I hope you are well..we need to chat soon..
DeleteHere! Hear! We love our pub and its poets - thank you!
ReplyDeleteI'll drink to that fill my cup to the rim..
Deletepoetry and a piano man - that plays extremely well together.... and here's to many more adventures!!
ReplyDeletePoetry and a piano man create beautiful works of art. Thanks for all you do Claudia..
DeleteGathered at a bar - nice! Like Cheers, all the different friends gathered.
ReplyDeleteI tried to incorporate how the pub makes me feel and my own personal experiences at open mic nights.
DeleteIt is indeed a fitting tribute to the 'travelling tales' and adventurous poems we share - and also how it enables us to shine and try out new things!
ReplyDeleteI agree each of us has the opportunity to shine speaking from our hearts and minds. It is good to try new things as it encourages growth.
DeleteAll coming together as one
ReplyDeleteThat would sure be fun
In real life to see
Of course maybe it could be scary
Nice ode to the pub
Maybe next upon the sea they'll be a in a sub
Can go anywhere with dVerse and creativity too
Just never know what will come due
Hi Pat,
DeleteWho knows where that ship will sail
perhaps another light hearted fool tale
Hmm..riding in a sub at the bottom of the sea
that is somewhere I might go with thee
haha be a bit cramped and tight
DeleteBut we could shine a light
Truedessa--you painted a perfect picture of what we are all about. Just loved how you gathered us into groups...open to so much.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the prompt, the pub has given me so
Deletemuch and I just wanted to express my vision..
love the magical ambiance you've created here...
ReplyDeleteVery nice rhythm, and lovely theme.
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading ..
DeleteThis sounds lovely Truedessa!
ReplyDeleteThank you Gloria..our favorite baker..
DeleteHe :)
DeleteI like that You even used rhyme to communicate your tribute to dVerse. Great visuals here. And yes, it is wonderful to be able to share with others and be heard.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the kind words and for visiting..
Delete(with a glass in hand, I echo) Cheers! you captured the atmosphere perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThank you..clink clink..cheers
DeleteYour poem gives a sense of the diversity of dVerse. Thanks. K.
ReplyDeleteThank you..I tried to capture the magic ..
DeleteEnjoyed the visuals that this creates...very nice tribute to the Pub. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you..
DeleteSuch words of dVerse
ReplyDeleteMy rhyming is worse
Perhaps I dVersify
Give it a try
Gather in the pub
Eat some grub
Listen to the tune
Think of the moon
Three cheers to you
This be true.
Gary, Gary, quite contrary :)
Hi Gary Gary,
DeleteCome and sit in the pub
write a poem about a sub
they'll fill you a frosty mug
better to sip don't chug
Now, tell me how does your garden grow?
With silver bells and cockle smells
DeleteAnd pretty young maids in a bow
So I sat in the pub
Fell into a tub
Said rub a dub dub
And welcome to da club
Or the foul and the pussycat
How about that
I don't do poetry
Obviously
While Penny the pawet
Don't you know it
Does doggy rhyme
All the time.........
Well..at this point the three days..of toasting..seems almost like three years of writing words of appreciation..or may be 3 to 6 thousands..words.. but nice to make it here too..and a great celebration here..of feeling..the ball..of poetry..it does elate!
ReplyDeleteThank you who knows how many words have come together in the name of poetry..it does elate..
DeleteThis is a very lovely poem.
ReplyDeletewww.modernworld4.blogspot.com
Thank you Gina..
DeleteWhen you say bar and you say poet
ReplyDeleteIn one line you know I know it
Has to be about these two guys
Causing lots of cries ending in good byes
I might be wrong
But if you spin a rhyme or sing a song
I will applaud all night long.
Hi Blue,
DeleteThanks for the video that was fun to watch
causing lots of cries ending in good byes
surely, that would cause some blues as I cry
Now all I need is... a Red Eye.
