Eye Awakening

Original artist unknown

Let us follow destiny's  song
through sun & moon's mystic eye
there's a world where we belong

sometimes angels get it wrong
lost souls in life, reflective sigh
let us follow destiny's  song

opening hearts singing strong
pathway vivid, don't ask why
there's a world where we belong

can humankind learn to get along
heaven's tears turn to a steady cry
let us follow destiny's song

spellbound by a tuneful throng
changing winds, shadows mystify
there's a world where we belong

dreams sweetly string us along
mystical eye watches from high
let us follow destiny's  song
there's a world where we belong

    2. Ooh, I love the way you just twisted the meaning by repeating it. Clever! Like, sometimes angels get it [by doing] wrong. OR, sometimes they "get it" (understand things) incorrectly.

  2. Humans all getting along would only happen if aliens put us under some mind control lol

    1. I don't see humankind getting along, it has been a battle since the beginning of mankind. Well, one can hope!

    1. This is a villanelle, I thought it might work well for the subject matter as I wanted to stress my main idea.

  5. I agree with sherry šŸ’– the form itself lends a magical touch to the poem. Beautifully penned (as always) šŸ’–

    Lots of love,

  6. The world in which we belong sounded out and each time I read I thought differently about it - how perhaps we force ourselves to be something and someone in places where we don't truly belong.. I wonder..do we know when we find the right place.. Is it when we no longer need seek it?

    1. I guess it could take on a couple of different meanings. I'll leave it up to you to decipher. Maybe, it is just about the journey in general.
      Thanks for sharing your thoughts Jae..

  7. How I wish we could find the world in which we belong. And learn to keep it rather than trash it.

    1. I too wish we would be a bit more respectful of the land, we are guests for a limited amount of time.

    1. Hi Bjorn, I do remember that song. Joe Cocker

      Love lift us up where we belong
      Where the eagles cry
      On a mountain high

      I wouldn't mind flying to that tune..

  12. Can human beings learn to get along? Sigh....I wish I could be optimistic about that. Your poem has a beautiful rhythm and flow, Truedessa. Lovely Sunday read.

    1. Mary, I don't know if they can learn to get along if we review the past, I would say no. Let us remain optimistic.

  13. The only good thing is that humans have been trying to wipe each other for millenia and haven't really succeeded. The greed and mess we are making of the planet however seems to suggest that somebody in charge has given up on us. I think that the reason dogs wag their tails is they are next to be top dog (as it were).

    1. Old Egg, you a good point there as we are still here. The question remains who will be top dog?

  15. Angels may sometimes be wrong, but humans will probably never get along. I love the way this was all put together, and the message behind it. Definitely one of your best.

    (Oh, and thank you for checking out Lost and Found! That means a lot to us both)
