In my dreams darkness came
the tears inside began to swell
I found myself by a wishing well
haunting voice calling my name
from the west a falcon appeared
messenger from the sky-world
overhead somber clouds swirled
in mists of grey he disappeared
drinking from the spring of life
maple leaves cling in misty dew
visions in a sea of violet blue
hidden garden free from strife
come to me, oh morning light
on restless wings, autumn nears
harmony in a heavenly sphere
faith a distant star forever bright
in my dreams the darkness came
faith a distant star forever bright

love the rhyme and the misty approach of autumn and most beautiful of all is that distant, bright star....
ReplyDeleteThanks Sumana - this was part of a dream.
DeleteHave to latch on to that distant star and let it shine through, preferably at a Bora sand bar lol
ReplyDeletehaha - Bora Beach, seems like a dream so out of reach :)
DeleteI enjoyed the flight of this poem - on the second journey I realised that dreams should be safe even if sad.. I think the falcon came when needed..like the sunrise and light perhaps.. I hope new wishes go in the well
ReplyDeleteI think she drank from the well and left behind secret desires.
DeleteI love "faith a distant star forever bright." A beautiful poem, my friend.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry as always! Your support means so much to me.
Deletesuch an enjoyable poem.
ReplyDeleteGlad it was enjoyable!
DeleteI do hope that through the darkness light can grow... remember that if it dark even the faintest of lights can be bright.
ReplyDeleteHi Bjorn, yes if there is even a flicker the light can grow and not be snuffed.
DeleteSweeping with a great dream edge to it.
ReplyDeleteThat light will grow brighter.
Ah, the dreamscape takes me on mystical flights.
DeleteAh, even in the darkness there is always a distant star if we look hard enough. There is, thankfully, always a glimmer of hope.
ReplyDeleteA glimmer of hope is all that is needed to manifest into a glorious glow.
DeleteWonderful path of hope and resilience. Beautifully told.
ReplyDeleteResilience is what keeps dreams alive and perhaps, those wishes might come true.
DeleteI hope that distant star always shines for you.
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteLovely - the wonderful ethereal quality throughout, punctuated with powerful images - really sweeps the piece right off the page. Awesome writing!
ReplyDeleteWendy, thank you for a lovely comment to be swept away much like soaring in an endless sky...
DeleteSometimes a distant light will do to dispel the dark.
ReplyDeleteEven the smallest light can bring hope
DeleteI love the balance of this poem. The thought that although there is darkness, light remains bright (perhaps, brighter because of the dark). I also enjoy the structure and breaks--the poem reads like a dream, pausing and breaking as it tells its tale.
ReplyDeleteThank you Magaly it is part of a dream that I have somehow managed to put in words.
Deletei don't understand faith but' faith is a distant star , shining bright' seems to be a pretty good description of it
ReplyDeleteFaith can be a difficult topic, I believe a star of light can guide all people.
DeleteA gentle, lovely piece that brings together some very bright and calming imagery. Like it!
ReplyDeleteThank you Robert! Calm is good ...
Deletei always thought of faith as a guiding star, always bright. thank you for this uplifting poem. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are quite welcome - we need a star sometimes to light the way!
DeleteWhat perfect verse for 9/11.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteIt feels as a new phase on the path...dreams trying to tell so you will be ready to step forward when time....faith and guiding star - supportive images.
ReplyDeleteThat could be the message
