February moon, rises in the sky
illuminating heavenly sphere
resting on a chilly winter night
will our coats be warm enough
February moon, be our guide
the snowy ice caps are melting
where the polar bears call home
how can we save what remains
hunger moon -
nourish the world
February moon, sing us songs
under a blanket of fresh snow
will there be food to fill empty bellies
how many miles must one roam
February moon, fill our hearts
with the natural wonder of love
paw to paw, together surviving
the harshness of this new reality
hunger moon - nourish
the world
Oh the harshness of a planet... actually without snow the ground is too frozen for those grazing to feed... so many arctic animals are adopted for a world that soon won't exist--
ReplyDeleteMay they find food under the moonlight.
ReplyDeleteLet us hope the February Moon is listening ....
ReplyDeleteYes, I worry for the polar bears. Such hunger! And it was 68 degrees in Antarctica the other day. Very distressing, I love your prayer for hunger moon to nourish the world.
ReplyDeleteFull of solemn sorrow, and asking all the right questions. I hope soon we will find a way to answer them positively.
ReplyDeleteSo bittersweet -- beautiful and sad. I'll look on that moon tonight and wish the same. - Brendan
ReplyDeleteThe February full moon has been beautiful. Too bad things here are not, the closer we look.
ReplyDeleteI like the repetition of February Moon and one sentence prayer for the world to be nourished.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully expressed. May it be so!
ReplyDeleteHopefully the moon can light the way.
ReplyDeleteI love this poetic prayer to the moon Truedessa. There is a real sadness here but also a true beauty.
ReplyDelete"together surviving" will be key, the loving pawed ones, the moon, and thee. Very much a song.
ReplyDeleteHard days are ahead. There's harshness all around. Nothing is as was before; a new reality for all. Amidst all this the moon rises & becomes a prayer itself as it were. So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis is beyond beautiful and eloquently sings of some of the concerns in my heart.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to read on Blue's blog that you are not good and send oceans of caring flooding your way.
Lovely! May the moon always shine and light the way for lovers and animals.
ReplyDeleteSome lovely lines in this … tinged with the ever-present disquiet of survival. Nicely penned.
ReplyDeleteWe that don't count must find a way to help those poor critters. The bears by instinct can recover given a place for them. We must find the places they can live and get them there. That is beyond them, think GPS, calling an uber, driving, reading road maps, etc. are the inovations of the human race.
ReplyDelete..
Gorgeous write, Trudessa. Let's hope that moon is listening.
