The Sunday Muse |
How long will we perch on this fence
living in a world filled with discontent
to understand raven's hidden darkness
unravel the madness of consciousness
to understand deep wisdom of the owl
into the night you might have to prowl
even the dark skies, have stars to delight
leading us towards the morning sunlight
even the light, has moments of unease
grey clouds linger, shapes & forms tease
tethered, our souls long to be set free
from this vantage point it is hard to see
traveling between the light and dark
daring to dream, to the song of the lark
how long will we perch on this fence
living in a world filled with discontent

At least until the Eagles stop patrolling the skies.
ReplyDeleteI love the poem; the questions posed, and the longing. It works for people... sometimes. As a former wilderness guide, I can tell you that both the owl and the raven (or crow) fly in the same sky with the eagle... and take their chances.
The prey and predator, survival the name of the game it seems.
Delete"even the light, has moments of unease" - wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks qbit
DeleteBetween light and dark - there is the balance.
ReplyDeleteWe just need to find that space of balance.
DeleteBeautiful and heartfelt thoughts flow in this lovely poem Truedessa. It takes a big and open heart to ask the questions that must be asked.
ReplyDeleteTo find answers we must first ask questions. Maybe, then mysteries can be unraveled. Thank you for your kind comment.
DeleteIf any bird can unravel the madness it is liable to be the Wise Owl. My conclusion, you did really well on this. Thank you for good read.
ReplyDelete..
Thanks Jim, I think the owl knows more than we can comprehend.
DeleteI adore owls. And ravens. I am convinced that our species could (should?) learn from them both.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Thanks for visiting I always enjoy the bird photos on your blog.
DeleteA long time, apparently, since our political factions both seem couched in cement.
ReplyDeleteThere is truth in those words,
