Peacefulness of the Setting Sun

Free Evening Nature photo and picture
courtesy of Pixabay

In the peacefulness of the setting sun
I drum sitting cross-legged upon the earth
the fibers of my being seemingly undone
my vision of the world becoming blurred

show me the way where the owls dreams
where the birds sing in harmonious song
where thoughts of love continuously stream
show me the place where my soul belongs

sunlight kisses the lips of radiant moonlight
drifting into the prairies where buffalo roam
a dreamer wanders into wondrous starlight
following heartbeats to a place called home

show me the way where heaven & earth meet
where the wildflowers grow strong and free
where deer sprint away from unknown streets
show me the place where my soul longs to be

in the peacefulness of the setting sun
I drum sitting cross-legged upon the earth
the fibers of my being seamlessly beating as one
following inner dreams, leads to self-worth

Enchanted Moose on the Loose

“Swedish White Moose” by Vika Muse

Beyond the burnt red sky
puffy eyes laden with tears
my heart heaves a long sigh

there is a place I have seen
past the crumbling rubble
there's a forest of lush green

here the white moose roams
his hooves the only noise I hear
steadfast in his natural home

strong and full of confidence
growing antlers, the cycle of life
living each day in peace and silence

light illuminates through the trees
fireflies flutter under moon's glow
enchantment in a soft spring breeze

"dare I rest for this one night
slumber in the magic of a dream"

This Darkest Song

Eye, Manipulation, Tears, Art, Sad

How can we lighten this darkest song
through sun & moon's mystic eye
will humankind ever learn to get along

lost souls seeking a place to survive
how to right all this evil wrong
look into their terrified eyes

where has all the birdsongs gone

The Language of Braids

The Sunday Muse

braids weave the past, present and future

extensions of one's heart, soul and mind

strands woven together creating unity

threads of a dream standing alone are weak

but, once interwoven with another dreamer

visions manifest in the tongue of possibilities

sweet-grass the sacred mane of mother earth

purifies dark spaces to allow healing to flow

Interlacing harmony, love and respect

mind,  body and spirit working together to bring fullness in life

author's note:  This photo reminded me of my grandmother.  She never cut her hair and always wore one or two braids.  As, a child she would braid my hair and share stories. Aging,  she could  no longer braid her own hair. Family members shared the task.  I always felt a sense of peace and unity brushing out her knee length black/gray strands.  While,  I was braiding she would sit quietly and listen as, I told her stories about my days.  There was a sense of honor and wisdom found in braiding.

The Fence of Discontent

The Sunday Muse

How long will we perch on this fence
living in a world filled with discontent

to understand raven's hidden darkness
unravel the madness of consciousness

to understand deep wisdom of the owl
into the night you might have to prowl

even the dark skies, have stars to delight
leading us towards the morning sunlight

even the light, has moments of unease
grey clouds linger, shapes & forms tease

tethered, our souls long to be set free
from this vantage point it is hard to see

traveling between the light and dark
daring to dream, to the song of the lark

how long will we perch on this fence
living in a world filled with discontent
