The fool's journey starts out innocent
full of adventure and purity of spirit
following dreams to new heights
But, somewhere along the way
truth and lies blur, what to believe
stepping off the cliff into
a world of unknowns
Trusting that the universe
will catch you when you fall
sadly, there will be bumps and bruises
the universe sometimes doesn't play fair
That rose faithfully carried
will wilt away under the stress
of broken promises and heartbreak
The small sack of belongings
you carry lightly will become a burden
of immeasurable weight
Perhaps, it is better to take the
journey in small steps even when
following your heart one needs
to be cautious....

I invite you to your poetry prompt today. April Fools’ with a twist. I
want you to lie to me. Tell me lies in your poetry, using the 60/40 rule
I guess Tarot cards shift the symbolic meaning around - like the Fool or the Tower. Excellent take!
ReplyDeleteThanks Reena the standing fool or the reverse fool depends on perspective and hidden truths.

Wisdom is needed..Thanks Gillena for visiting. I have been reading your lovely poems but, I am having trouble commenting.
DeleteThe fool will eventually need wisdom if he is to make it.
ReplyDeleteAlex, wisdom leads to self knowledge and growth...
Delete“what to believe
ReplyDeletestepping off the cliff into
a world of unknowns”
So true that we are consistently faced with unknowns and we need to decide for ourselves to find out the truth.
I think we all step off that cliff at some point and it can be scary when there are unknowns.
DeleteIt is dangerous alas... we have to be carful and not trust our decisions
ReplyDeleteIt is dangerous and sometimes we humans don't make the best decisions.
