Beneath a hazy sky, the library courtyard becomes a stage. A silver headed musician belts out some rhythm and blues. I find myself drifting into a time machine, lost in the melodies. All I have to do is dream, dream, dream, dream fills the evening air. Running through his catalog of original songs and some amazing covers. Any Elvis fans in the audience? Of course, there are as he proceeds to stir us with his own rendition of "Suspicious Minds". Hiding the tears from my eyes behind my shades, I sing along. "Why can't you see, what you're doing to me". The guitars, flute, drum and upright bass create a wonderland of sound on a summer night.

ReplyDeleteVery nicely done, Truedessa; you transported me to the library courtyard!
ReplyDeleteEnchanting evening! And those lyrics are from another song as well. Can't think of the title right now...
ReplyDeleteYour haibun is dreamy, dreamy! I am a flautist which makes your poem resonate even more deeply.
ReplyDeleteWonderful. I'm like you - nostalgic tears when the old tunes play. Smiles.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful haibun, Truedessa!
