bowl of cooked white rice
hope found in each precious grain
feeds hungry bellies
written for What's Going On? Black or White
hosted by Mary - write a poem about black or white but, not both.
Thanks for reading - This is the best I can do as I have been sick.
I was inspired by the local food drives seeking staples like rice to help feed those in need of food assistance.

a nice Haiku I love how hope is found in each grain
ReplyDeleteLove!
ReplyDeleteNothing so good as "a bowl of cooked white rice" for a starving child. There are too many of such children, deliberately starved; too few bowls of rice given to them. Such a simple image, Truedessa, but so profound of hope waiting to be fulfilled.
ReplyDeleteWhite rice is a blessing. So sorry you have been sick. We'll catch up soon.
ReplyDeleteWe consider each grain of rice as Lakshmi, the goddess of the riches. You've captured Her in the haiku as Hope which is so true.
ReplyDeleteSorry you've been sick. May you get well soon.
Hi Truedessa - I hope you feel easier soon. Excellent Haiku - and yes so much poverty around the world ... I hope that can be helped soon. Cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI like it, Truedessa. Succinct. Says so much in a few words. Do feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better today!
ReplyDeleteSweet write. Yes, there is much need out there, too much, sadly
ReplyDeleteThat says it all, doesn't it? Sorry to hear you've been sick. Hope you are much, much better.
