An Unholy Hour

Courtesy of Pixabay

The sea churned at an unholy hour
surrounded by some mystical power
crashing the deck a raging wave
tonight the crew must be brave
how many would be lost or dead
dark clouds circulating overhead

from the captain’s lips he swore
flattening the sails as the sea roars
hungry sharks waiting for a feast
songs of the siren luring them east
the starless sky an ominous black
there would be no turning back

a blade of hope a twist of fate
over the horizon a sunrise awaits
the captain walks with a swagger
the sea retreats and loses its anger
standing on the edges of a new day
iconic lighthouse guides the way
