Written on Birch Skin

I am a  tree with a story to tell
peel my soft layers,  one by one
divulging deep  groves of my soul

I am a spirited tree,  higher  visions
courageously growing new roots
life flows through my budding veins

I am a wild tree, riding river rapids
while ancient ones play sacred songs
my sap a healing balm to those in need

I am a tree harmonizing with nature
intertwined with forest dwellers
chanting praises  to mother earth

I am a tree with warmth in my heart
intentions written on my silken skin
offering gifts to the mighty four winds

I am a  tree who burns when damp
my spirit catches fire full of passion
sparks light the way to transformation

I am a tree with a story to tell

Like the line about offering gifts to the wind.

they have their stories to tell, but our story is their story too - they have sheltered us, fed us, warmed us too.

  14. I wish trees could tell us their story! Just thinking of what they would have to tell! Trees are wonderful and forests have always been a place for me to sort my thoughts, to listen to nature and to be happy again. Beautiful poem!

  17. I often look at a tree thinking, That fella was here when I wasn't (yet) and will be here when I'm dead and gone. It's a sobering thought, right?
