author's note: I wanted to explore two forms:
The first is a Tanka 5,7,5, 7, 7 syllable count
The second is a cinquain 2,4,6, 8, 2

I love writing both tanka and haiku. Something about the compact nature causes me to zero in upon clarity like you did so well here.
ReplyDeleteThank you Julie..
DeleteDevouring life's moments - like time.
ReplyDeleteYou made sense of a Dali creation - well done!!
Hi Alex,
Deletethanks as always for popping over for a visit...
Lots of depth here and things to ponder. I think we all have within us the ability to conquer darkness by concentrating on the light. Beautiful poem Truedessa.
ReplyDeleteHi Keith,
DeleteI agree darkness can be overcome with light..
Conquer the darkness of the present and past and then let light shine on through in a rainbow blast.
ReplyDeleteA rainbow blast that lasts and lasts..
Deletelove the hopeful images full of light...a very positive take on the prompt...
ReplyDeletethank you..
DeleteI feel the hope and see the beauty through your writing!
ReplyDeleteSo kind of you Karen..
DeleteI love short poetry... for me the cinquain worked the better of the two with the message you wanted to give.
ReplyDeleteHi Bjorn, I too like to write short poetry and I seem to enjoy the cinquain.
Deletevery well done- I like both!
ReplyDeleteThank you..
Deletei like the contrast of light and dark in that second part...
ReplyDeletethe first two lines of the first one say so much as well..
smiles.
Hi Brian,
DeleteAlways a pleasure to read your thoughtful comments.
I love the "spoonfuls of enlightenment".....
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry,
DeleteEvery spoonful counts in the journey..
I agree with Sherry. I like the idea of enlightenment coming in spoonfuls.
ReplyDeletethanks..may we always enjoy a taste..

thank you for the shower of blessings so kind of you..
DeleteLove the form and love the hope in your words. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing. Both the picture and the poem. I'm amazed Salvador Dalí used a vulture's wings here! Your poem is a perfect match to it. This picture makes me think of something dark, something very threatening, whereas the light brings hope at the same time. You capture it beautifully in your words!
ReplyDeleteHi Beate,
DeleteThank you for visiting. In life there is always contrast but, I like to
look for the light.
Nicely done...
ReplyDeleteThanks Tess
