Devouring Doubt..

Chair With the Wings of a Vulture, 1960, Salvador Dali
 conquering  darkness
spoonfuls of enlightenment
candles  light  the  way
 sitting   edgy   chair  of  thought
 renewal  rising  bright  sun

~
darkness
winged  chair  of  thought
devouring life's moments
silver candles burning  with   hope
brightness

author's note: I wanted to explore two forms:
The first is a Tanka 5,7,5, 7, 7 syllable count
The second is a cinquain 2,4,6, 8, 2

  1. I love writing both tanka and haiku. Something about the compact nature causes me to zero in upon clarity like you did so well here.

  2. Devouring life's moments - like time.
You made sense of a Dali creation - well done!!

  3. Lots of depth here and things to ponder. I think we all have within us the ability to conquer darkness by concentrating on the light. Beautiful poem Truedessa.

  7. I love short poetry... for me the cinquain worked the better of the two with the message you wanted to give.

  14. This is amazing. Both the picture and the poem. I'm amazed Salvador Dalí used a vulture's wings here! Your poem is a perfect match to it. This picture makes me think of something dark, something very threatening, whereas the light brings hope at the same time. You capture it beautifully in your words!
