With This Ring

Keith Haring

can heaven and hell co-exist
in the complex maze of life
is it true opposites attract

how many will fall into darkness
how many will rise towards light
how many will ride the cross-way

can heaven and hell co-exist
in the battle for survival
who will win, who will lose

how many will find their way
how many will unfold their wings
how many will severe their wings

can heaven and hell co-exist
in the journey for everlasting life
can there be balance and peace

how many will rejoice at the gate
how many will curse their fate
how many will wander endlessly

can heaven and hell co-exist
in a world of black and white
is there hope in that gray space

how many will suffer in pain
how many will be redeemed
how many skeletons will remain

can heaven and hell co-exist
in a world of trials and tribulations
will we conquer death with life

you decide...

    1. Hi Brian,

Yes, I agree heaven and hell do indeed exist in many ways but, can they be united forces???

  4. I think they have to coexist, for neither of them would be possible without the other...

    1. Ah Keith, you have made a smart observation..light vs darkness..the yin and yang philosophy..constantly transforming each other..interdependence..

  5. I think our existence her is a mixture of heaven and hell - they do not like their co-existence and of course we know one day the forces of light will triumph in a coming age.
    Loved your poem ~ Eddie

  6. They are both there, the light and dark, the good and evil, then the area of grey has its way. But what is good to one can be evil to another. So it can be a hard thing to grasp, but yeah they are there at our Earthly lair. After we croak though, damned if I know lol

Yes, that was a tragic loss of such a talented artist..he will be missed by many..so sad that his battle became too much for him to fight..may he rest in peace..

  8. There's no black when there's no white
There's no view when there's no sight
My hell's your hell our hell's their bliss
Who knows who's next for us to miss?
