What Shall I Pack

Travel Light by Joel Robison

In my visions I see change
a new path in the journey
preparing I pack a suitcase
leaving heavy burdens behind
my only wish is to travel light

thinking what can I bring
that won't weigh me down
filling it with hopes & dreams
a bright  bouquet of wildflowers
wrapped in tissues of love

carrying summer sunlight
traveling to distant shores
who knows what is in store
on the path from here to there
whispering secrets into my soul

on the wings of a butterfly
fluttering  in a warm breeze
hidden sanctuary, new habitat
seeking sweet nectar in life
the journey leads me to you!

  1. I do think sometimes we need to lighten our load as we walk the path of life, so your message is very apt, Truedessa. But no matter what else we take, we must not forget those hopes and dreams. This is really one of my favorite poems of yours! Thanks for 'jamming' with us!

  2. We're always taking crap with us that we shouldn't. And when the journey leads to someone special, definitely time to dump the negative load.

    1. Alex,

That is true why do we constantly hold on to old baggage? I guess we need to find the nearest dumpster and lighten the load.

  3. I can identify with your poem, Trudessa. If you travel to the right person, you soon find you can travel light. Material things just seem not to be important any more.

  5. We definitely need to shed what's weighing us down, for that hampers our ability to move forward. This can be a lesson to us all.

  9. Forget the crap, send it to the dump. Follow a new map and enjoy it whether easy or it has a little bump.

If we let go of the garbage more, we'd probably all be in a better place.

  10. i love new pathes to explore...and each one is different...and each opens our eyes to different things because what is required for them changes...and oft what we carry will keeep us from even taking those new pathers...i like that the discovery of them as being the destination in the end...

  18. We never know what's in store
Sometimes too much, sometimes we want more
I pack my bags in a minute or two
Just one thing missing: my kangaroo shoe ;)

Howdy, stranger... how's life been treating you?

    2. Cowboy hat.... yes, Ma'am
Need it like the wool on a lam
      Let's do the clam
      Or build a dam
You've gotten hold of a hat too
      And I don't mean Hatt
      Just between me an you
Life's like a bill that never seems to end
And when it does, we need a friend
Could do with one right now too
      Unless when she's not blue

    3. A friend to you is something I could do
as we all need a little help from a friend
a hand to hold until we reach the end
yeah, sometimes she is a bit blue
I'm afraid that may be "True"

  20. I have made a few "light" journeys in life and they have always been the best. Though my path did not lead to my love, my love was with me on the path.
