I gaze with admiration
upon your natural beauty
a creature of water
earth
& air
pausing in twilight hours
reflections of liminality
that space between
here & there
one foot on land
& the other in water
point of transition
and I wonder can I cross
that threshold with you...
I watch you in stillness
blending with green fronds
standing in the shallow end
times seems to stand still
in solitude unraveling
mysteries through meditation
you carry messages of wisdom
be patience in the journey
and I wonder how many marshes
must I wade through in life...
you sense my presence
yet, allow me this moment
as you might speak to my heart
guiding me to new understanding
in humility, I silently give thanks
for the gift of true friendship
within your wings I find comfort
air suddenly shifts, you take flight
and I wonder am I ready to fly
to soar unknown heights...
gliding over silver waters
I hear your mystical song
ripples of energy fill the air
and I realize time is "now"

by me Friday night - a mystical encounter
Can I cross you...
ReplyDeleteBrilliant poem, Truedessa!
Thank you Alex..the journey continues
DeleteThis poem is how I have been feeling this year...SOAR is my word of the year and your poem is magical as it expresses our desire to soar, take flight, try out those wings and fly to new destinations..."the time is now"
ReplyDeleteSOAR is a powerful word and I hope you do soar on golden wings.
DeleteThis has a lovely, peaceful feeling, an acceptance. Yet the moment described must also have been very exciting.
ReplyDeleteRosemary, it was a bit exciting..especially as I tried to take the pictures without disturbing the moment. I think my heart beat a bit faster.
DeleteLovely! "you sense my presence yet, allow me this moment" - those encounters are truly transcendent. A beautifully rendered piece that I totally "felt" as I had a very similar experience, many years ago.
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy - those moments can be so special and turning points in our view.
DeleteWhat a wonderful capture of the heron in that last picture. Life is full of slogs, but they build muscles so that when the time is right, you can fly.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I was lucky to be able to capture his beauty. That is true overcoming difficulties can bring strength in many ways.
DeleteThis is so beautiful. My heart lifted on its wings.......
ReplyDeletethank you Sherry, I hope you have a great week my friend..
DeleteAh, it is good to come to the realization that the time to fly is now. This is a very empowering poem.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary,
DeleteThank you! I think I got caught up in the now of the moment..life does give us some special encounters.
Such a relaxing entry Truedessa. I like the moment as if you are pleading for nature to understand your presence. And of course, it willingly oblige.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Totomai, this bird is very special to me so when I see him, I know he comes with a message, and to be able to capture the moment is more than I could have hoped for...

Yes, one must live in the 'now' to make it a worthwhile living. This last stanza is in tandem with the accompanying pic you had taken. Brilliant pic Truedessa! The artistic touch is a natural. This is a pro shot! It'll be fun to see each of your future poems graced with its own pic like this one. By the end of each year you'll have enough to compile into TWO books even. With your long poems written daily 365 each with a pic can make up 2 books of 300 to 400 pages.Best to you Ma'am!

Hi Hank,
DeleteThanks so much for the thoughtful comment and a wonderful idea. You leave me the gift of insight-fullness. I will ponder the thought.
That moment we are all waiting for... the moment to take flight.. Love the word liminality.. of course it's hard to cross the border.
ReplyDeleteHi Bjorn,
DeleteLiminality - the word feels mystical and magical so I had to use it in the poem. If it were easy to cross the border the journey would not be so meaningful. We must find our way and cross when ready.
How important it is for us to take time to visit the other places and inhabitants of this earth so we truly know where we belong.
ReplyDeleteYour words are true and wise. Thanks for reading old egg..much appreciated.
DeleteThere are indeed many marshes in life..if we are lucky we encounter kind souls who help us navigate and rise above them...
ReplyDeleteYes, sometimes we need a bit of help to find our way.
DeleteTime is now for what we want indeed, as there may not be a tomorrow. Great shots too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Pat..who knows what tomorrow will bring..
DeleteI think I'm stuck in a marsh now. But I keep wading through it, knowing what waits for me on the other side.
ReplyDeleteAs always, beautiful poem with wonderful words.
Into each life comes a bit of marsh wading...hopefully balance will be found.
DeleteTruly wonderful, I thought it was lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you..so nice of you to come over and read.
Deleteyou sense my presence
ReplyDeleteyet, allow me this moment
as you might speak to my heart
guiding me to new understanding
Beautiful lines! Well penned :D
Thank you, and I think it did speak to me in its own way.
DeleteOur transitions need support indeed. Well written.
ReplyDeleteThank you...life is about transitions and we must make our way through changes.
Deletei love the realization in the end.. and the picture is beautiful.
ReplyDeletethat you..I had to take that last picture rather quickly...
DeleteA beautiful and heart felt moment & encounter ~ Thanks for sharing it with us ~
ReplyDeleteGrace
Thank you for taking the time to read. Have a good week Grace!
DeleteMagnificent! I rarely see our water birds they are so shy but when I do I am in awe.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comment.
Hi Gail,
DeleteYou are most welcome my friend. You really did a great job with that fence.
Oh, this was a mystical encounter indeed. And the words you use to describe it are mystical too. Love this!!
ReplyDeleteThank Myrna, I guess it was one of those "wow" moments for me.
DeleteThat last line...poignant reminder.
ReplyDeleteI especially like the first stanza.
ReplyDeleteWonderful... yes, sometimes "now" is so awesome it becomes overwhelming and by the time I sort it out I am in another moment :-)
