a moment between here and there
gentle breeze blowing in the air
in the stillness of shade and light
my eyes gaze upon your rare sight
finding calmness in a spring day
hidden amongst branches and ray
nature's sign, moment of delight
my eyes gaze upon your rare sight
skipping stones, pebbles of new hope
solitude expanding ones scope
allowing my heart to take flight
my eyes gaze upon your rare sight
sharing with Poets United
author's note: I recently had this
encounter and I wanted to bring
honor to the journey...
can you see him?
Hi Truedessa,
ReplyDeleteI really like your poem and its images here. I feel that you have invited us to some private and mystical location on your end where you go for peace and serenity. The forest is always a great place to escape to on a Sunday or Saturday. thanks for this.
I am so glad you decided to take a peek into a place of tranquility. Wishing you peace James!
Deleteskipping stones, pebbles of new hope
ReplyDeletesolitude expanding ones scope
Such beautiful lines here.
Thanks Sanaa - sometimes we need to skip a stone or two to feel the ripples...
DeleteHe's in the back
ReplyDeleteUnless my eyes are out of whack
Long neck sticking up
Sure isn't a pup
And nice flow
But that you know
haha - he is the back
Deleteyour eyes are not out of whack..
very majestic and hidden from view
but, he seemed to call out hey, you
That's one of your best!
ReplyDeleteIs that a bird in the middle, almost hidden?
Hi Alex,
DeleteThanks, that is indeed a feathered friend. I felt a pull to look downstream and then I saw him standing in the stillness.
What a beautiful encounter indeed as your words let us peak in on it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Donna, it really was one of those special moments. Seemed mystical!
DeleteA wild turkey? Whatever it is, you have honored it well.
ReplyDeleteNot a wild turkey, but still a feathered friend.
DeleteFun! I know!
ReplyDeleteFun, for sure...
DeleteLovely images, in words and pictures. I do see but cannot recognise. In every other respect, that creek might be one near where I live.
ReplyDeleteThere seems to be these hidden places that bring a sense of wonderment no matter where the location.
DeleteSolitude really does expand one's scope, doesn't it? Love those moments in nature when you capture the sight of something rare and wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYes, when I encounter this creature it is a sign of good things to come.
DeleteI couldn't see it at first, but then I looked a bit harder... and Magic! I love that having to take time to look for that beautiful bird made the delight of seeing it even stronger. I reread the poem after the look, and found my recent excitement (and gratitude) in your words.
ReplyDeleteThanks Magaly, there was so much to take in that beautiful day. I appreciate your comment. I am glad you searched for him.
DeleteHard to spot at first, but there in the bottom, is that an egret or a heron?
ReplyDeleteYes, you have found him so majestic standing and observing his surroundings.. A zen moment for me..
DeleteMy eyes are terrible, I cant see.......but loved your poem and your wish to "bring honor to the journey" - that is so you, kiddo. I will e you, had a most amazing time, am restored to myself.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry! Let's catch up😊
Deleteah...you've presented our Mother Nature's serenity and beauty so gracefully...
ReplyDeleteThank you.. I cannot fully express the beauty in that day!
DeleteA feathered beauty in the middle not easily seen, yes, Truedessa! Nature at its best!
ReplyDeleteHank
I agree Hank it can be humbling and give one a sense of serenity..
Deletethe feeling of magic and a moment of connection really shine here...i see the bird (i think) but as i gaze into your photo i see other things - the tree shaped like an A, the shadows and stones and stick man on the fallen branch bridge...thank you for sharing the special moment with us...
ReplyDeleteThanks for seeing all the signs.. I saw many others as well. The bridge caught my eye immediately. I was some distance away but, saw the heron or should I say felt him? I then moved in for a closer look.
DeleteYour poem beautifully reflects the beauty of that encounter.
ReplyDeleteThanks Myrna there is beauty in nature and if we are quiet it will speak to us.
DeleteYou wanted to jump, express your delight for such a rare sight but afraid it might get scared & go away... I feel you there, Truedesa. On an aside, the majestic beauty of nature is not worth of holding back. Lovely piece of writing, my friend! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Kelvin, so glad to have you visit my friend. Yes, I was filled with joy and slowly moved closer.. His presence in this place filled with signs. Much more transpired but, that will remain a secret as it was a message for me.
DeleteLove how you brought to life this rare glimpse in nature...I cannot see him in the picture, but hear him in your poetry. This is lovely Truedessa!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Carrie, he is a bit hard to see.
DeleteAll beautiful!
ReplyDeleteZQ
Thanks ZQ...
DeleteThe sky reflects the beauty of the water flowing beneath it. Kakla!
ReplyDeleteThat is does ...the sky will always mesmerize me.
DeleteVery cool. Those little concealed sightings can be magical, really. You articulated the occasion splendidly!
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy - it is special when these moments just sort of magically happen
DeleteLovely poetry, It took a minute but saw the hidden bird. How wonderful to capture it both on camera and in your words!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the birthday wishes yesterday! I had a fabulous day with family!
Took me a while, but I found him! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely imagery and most certainly tranquil... even if I feel dumb that no matter how hard I try, I'll always suck at skipping rocks. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's full of peace. You poem wakes kindness up.
