open your mouth taste the rain
feel life pulsating in your veins
molding our thoughts into words
to the song of the mocking birds
riding a magical spinning wheel
layers of ourselves slowly peel
once again dancing in syllables
believing in dreams and miracles
listening to songs of yesterday
open your eyes, take in the sights
ride a dragon into a starry night
shaping our hearts, we can feel
show me something that is real
pieces of sun, slices of moon
singing a tune in an ancient rune
in a tongue, that's never been sung
where a golden apple once hung
listening to songs of yesterday

I can just imagine this as a gentle song song by a fireplace on a summer's evening. Maybe a soft lute/harp being played along with it, but it just paints a wonderful image of fantasy, warmth, and wonder.
ReplyDeleteThank you Robert, I can def hear a soft lute.
DeleteSuch a great rhythm to it! Just like a song.
ReplyDeleteThank you Alex, care to give it a riff?

DeleteIn the past, I've already said how much I LOVE it when your poetry reads like a spell that married a nursery rhyme that married a fairy tale. I love this so much.
ReplyDeleteI also adore that the words (the writing) is alive and living.
Thank you so much Magaly, you brought a smile to my face.
DeleteThe reality of distant untouchable sun and moon heightens the quest in the dragon ride, i can taste this fantasy

DeleteThis is so enchanting, from another world as it were! love the sun pieces, moon slices and most of all when "layers of ourselves slowly peel". Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sumana - I think it is good to peel a few layers so new growth can appear.
DeleteHi Truedessa - I'd love to ride the dragon into the starry night and then see the moon and sun in their various guises ... as perhaps the dragon and I rest under the tree where the apple once hung ... lovely poetry-song ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteThank Hilary - Close your eyes and take that magical ride in a dream.
DeleteThis is so incredibly breathtaking! Especially love; "open your eyes, take in the sights ride a dragon into a starry night shaping our hearts" and oh "show me something that is real pieces of sun, slices of moon singing a tune in an ancient rune." Beautifully executed.

DeleteMy goodness, how your poem today bends and intertwines with what I wrote today, even though I did not rhyme! I was do another visit back here; lack of 24-hour internet has caused me to forget how talented writers like you are! I'll have to thank Pat for re-introducing us!
ReplyDeleteBlends, not bends. :) hate typing on a phone!
DeleteGosh, and due, not do. I think I'll go hide now...
DeleteThanks Snowcatcher, no need to hide I'm just glad you stopped over.
