Serenity rolls in on waves of light
my melodious heart rises and falls
over the horizon dreams take flight
I wonder where you are this night
do you understand the seabirds call
serenity rolls in on waves of light
my melodious heart rises and falls
over the horizon dreams take flight
I wonder where you are this night
do you understand the seabirds call
serenity rolls in on waves of light
In a vast heaven the stars ignite
sandy shores hermit crabs crawl
over the horizon dreams take flight
Whales songs inspire poets to write
happier memories, I wish to recall
serenity rolls in on waves of light
Sand castles, reminders of daylight
dark storms in the distance stall
over the horizon dreams take flight
Billowing clouds, hope sails tonight
open your eyes, experience it all
serenity rolls in on waves of light
over the horizon dreams take flight

Have to roll with those waves and dream of beyond indeed. A great flow too.
ReplyDeleteHave to roll with the waves of life or the current will pull you under.
DeleteReally nice flow.
ReplyDeleteWaves aren't so serene to those poor sand castles.
I decided to change that line a bit to spare them an untimely demise.
DeleteI like the peaceful feeling that I get from this poem. The whales, the sand castles, the hermit crabs - such wonderful details!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mary, it was nice to see your post today!
DeleteThis really shows how dark and light is all the same changing scene and makes me want to better go with the waves.
ReplyDeleteWaves of light seems to be a good way to go!
DeleteThere is actually a serene feeling to this poem. It's calming. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteYou are most welcome, I am glad it was calm inducing.
DeleteI felt that serenity, rolling in on waves of light so beautifully. I love the whale songs and "hope sails tonight". Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLet's all hop on that boat of hope and sail into a place of serenity.
DeleteSo many beautiful phrase and images!
ReplyDeleteThank you Rosemary!
DeleteI like how your mind works, how you get your inspiration to compose such a peaceful, hopeful poem. May we all see and feel those waves. Lovely poem!
ReplyDeleteMay it be so Myrna - thanks for visiting.
DeleteI love the painting and your interpretation of it, as if the sun and darkness are dancing in the sea and everyone is having a rainbowing time. Such powerful imagery!
ReplyDeleteThanks Magaly - I love the painting as well.
DeleteI wish to recall... a lovely naming of that human experience where we have to sometimes remind ourselves of the thing we need that is in fact in front of us.
ReplyDeleteThere is beauty everywhere around us we need only see the lighter side.
DeleteHi Truedessa - I love the painting ... wonderful artwork; while your take on the rolling waves just putters along peacefully, giving us an opportunity to think ... love it - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteHi Hilary - Lovely to see you here thanks for visiting and the comment.
DeleteCheers
I like this moment of surrender to serenity, even when there are concerns still bobbing about in the ocean of our minds. The storm is still a good way off, and there is nothing wrong with enjoying a bit of peace while we have it.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope it's a slow moving storm that doesn't make land-fall.
DeleteEnjoy the moments of wondrous light before the darkness comes..
Beautiful, the invitation to calm and dream is as if the image rolls on into the poem.
ReplyDeleteThank you! May the calm stay with you in the journey
DeleteThis is a lovely villanelle... so inviting and dreamy. I imagine moon light on waves.
ReplyDeleteHi Bjorn,
DeleteYes, moonlight plays on the water to the rhythm of the night
Oh gosh this is incredibly beautiful!💞 Especially love;"I wonder where you are this night do you understand the seabirds call serenity rolls in on waves of light."😊
ReplyDeleteSanaa, thank you for your lovely comment.
DeleteLove it! This is so visual and beautiful, I could really see it as the poetic narration to a short film. Wonderful words!

Wonderful villanelle True! The repeated lines somehow has a hold on one's attention.
How has it been with you, Ma'am? Been missing you too ever since Pat changed his format! The sense of urgency is missing now. In fact Hank missed a few times to post at Pat's place as the time of posting is at random. Will make it a point however, to look you up.
Hank
Hi Hank,
DeleteThanks for stopping over. I am doing okay, thanks for asking. We did have a fun run trying for the coveted number 1. Pat is very random now, so I guess we are like two ships in the night.
May your sail always blow in a gentle wind.
Truly, truly, beautiful! Thank you Truedessa! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteJust to read this, relaxes me. Very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSerenity now!!!
