A Day-Dream Away

For the Sunday Muse

Standing in a land of desolation
barren are the signs of creation

somewhere past lavender skies
there's a place where spirits fly

seeking the waters of salvation
to end this era of desperation

walking on the sands of sorrow
I slip into the arms of tomorrow

a new doorway of hope appears
drifting songs of distant gondoliers

paradise is only a daydream away
on the edge of reality, palms sway

crossing the spiritual threshold
from my eyes tears gently roll

I catch a glimpse of golden light
my heart awakens at the sight

will there be a day of jubilation
is life an illusion of interpretation

  3. Just on the threshold, have to dream for it to come to be.

  8. I think there is promise and deception both in that door -- and hard to say which is "an illusion of interpretation." Probably both. Thanks for bringing this to earthweal. Open link weekends are fair game for anything that calls itself verse.

  9. How we see the world often defines whether we see promise or deception on the other side of the door. Oh, may we earth dwellers never be totally void of hope.

  11. Ah, the question posed by many … "Will there be a day of jubilation". I'm reminded of my father. In his last days I asked him "Do you believe in a life hereafter?" and he quickly replied, 'Of course I do" … and after a pause he added "If there is such a thing". We all want to believe in the day of jubilation, don't we?
