How Far

Courtesy of Pixabay

How far back in time must
one travel to rediscover one's
inner self

Retracing the tracks left behind
from ancestors of another time
who honored the sun and moon
with song and dance

How far,  must one wander
through the dense forests
to find the wilderness of the mind
resting in a field of lavender and
violets brings clarity

Following the path of the earliest
dreamers, listening to the drumming
of the heart, planters of knowledge
who respected the earth

How many moons must pass
until we channel the energy
to uproot what has been seeded
perceptions, ideals and habits
that no longer serve for the greater
well being

Close your eyes, follow the drum's song
sit on the stream of thought, drink
in the cup of healing waters
revitalize your mind, body and soul

How many times must a willow bend
until it snaps from the weight of her tears

A Day-Dream Away

For the Sunday Muse

Standing in a land of desolation
barren are the signs of creation

somewhere past lavender skies
there's a place where spirits fly

seeking the waters of salvation
to end this era of desperation

walking on the sands of sorrow
I slip into the arms of tomorrow

a new doorway of hope appears
drifting songs of distant gondoliers

paradise is only a daydream away
on the edge of reality, palms sway

crossing the spiritual threshold
from my eyes tears gently roll

I catch a glimpse of golden light
my heart awakens at the sight

will there be a day of jubilation
is life an illusion of interpretation

Who Can?

free images - original artist unknown

Moon rising near the Joshua tree
gateway appears, quarter past three
I walk alone on a  desert road
trying to decipher mystical codes

who can; silence a thousand drums
apparitions speak in ancient tongue
tall cactus guard the canyon walls
darkness dwells, mourning falls

stumbling upon an angel of poems

welcome to the door of perception
the journey is not; about perfection
open your mind, to a poetic world
cosmic dust, the universe unfurls

who can; silence a thousand voices
chanting mantras; spiritual choices
glimpsing a vision of future days
when will this dust storm go away

stumbling upon an angel of song

walking through a portal of time
synchronicity, rhythm and rhyme
awakening my eyes filled with tears
can harmony exist in coming years

who can; silence the phoenix's cries
with a single flap, lighting the sky
rising from ashes, a warrior reborn
giving life to spirits tired and worn

stumbling upon an angel of dream

author's note: sharing tidbits
of a dream-walk.

Stop, Look Before You Go!

Photo @ Truedessa

stop behold the wonders of autumn
autumn, a time of changing views
views, in wondrous hues of color
color, brightens the journey ahead
ahead, a winding road leading up
up,  narrow rocky trails dangerously steep
steep, climbing each step with a deep inhale
inhale, exhale the UN-polluted mountain air
air, crisp and clean the need to breathe
breathe, in moments before they are gone
gone, are the days when I traveled lost
lost are my dreams of yesterday, today I live
live, for today embracing glorious light
light, the source that guides the wanderer
wanderer, the one who seeks eyes of the dragon
dragon, guards the dreamers secret lair
lair, hidden sanctuary panoramic window
window, eyes of an oracle, feeling whole
whole, body, heart and soul inter-locking
inter-locking, jigsaw fitting together united
united, in effulgent  light, the prism of life
life, the journey between here and there
there, the place of higher consciousness
consciousness, the state of being truly awake
awake, transcending dreams to a new reality
reality, perception translated in an autumn day
