There are cracks in the road
that sometimes cause us strife
stress can be a heavy load
realms of darkness and light
There are cracks in the heart
that sometimes need time to heal
how to mend what was torn apart
gaps of pain sometimes surreal
There are cracks in the poetry
that sometimes have too much space
fill the emptiness with vivid imagery
as this world can be a bitter place
There are cracks in the road
that sometimes offers growth
from a seed, a flower to behold
a new beginning, signs of hope

ReplyDeleteThat they do! Loved the prompt...
Delete"There are cracks in the poetry / that sometimes have too much space" - great!
ReplyDeleteThanks qbit - To fill the space or leave it open? That is the question
DeleteThis reminded me of Wallace Stevens "13 ways of looking at a blackbird" ...and this is four ways of looking at a crack!! Well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bev, interesting comment, now I need to read the 13 ways.
DeleteThat was beautiful and very profound.
ReplyDeleteTrying, no matter how hard, to fill space with words when that space needs to simply breathe ... never a good idea.
ReplyDeleteSometimes, the space does need room to breathe...expanding our thoughts
DeleteCracks in the heart.....yes. But that flower of hope thankfully hangs on and helps us heal.
ReplyDeleteHope keeps us moving onward, even when it is difficult.
DeleteSeasoned wisdom!
ReplyDeleteThank you, wisdom is difficult some days.
DeleteLoved this.
