Lively Rumpus

Rhode Island

The wild waves roll relentlessly
summer winds blow restlessly

reclining in my Tommy Bahama chair
breathing in the fresh salty ocean air

        umbrellas tumbling down the beach
        overhead rowdy seagulls screech

            creating quite a lively rumpus
            pondering all the magic
            this day may encompass

linking with dVerse - Quadrille #230
hosted by Kim - writing a 44 word quadrille
incorporating the word rumpus

  1. My kind of rumpus. Nature knows how to put on a party.

  4. A beautiful rumpus, Truedessa. I love the ebb and flow in the shape of the poem, the rhyming couplets, the appeal to the senses – and those ‘umbrellas tumbling down the beach’.

  11. A delightful sense permeates my reading - one that rings true for me, one I seek, the joy of summer, but also of nature.
