Under a dome of stars
high on a mountain top
pondering this story of ours
in silence green leaves drop
the summer has been hot
trees self-pruning in the heat
stress has caused some knots
I’m told this is the ultimate spot
where the brightest light shines
renewal found in the darkness
here poets explore fine lines
awestruck by the calmness
how to reach the infinite sky
shedding all that weighs us down
perhaps, then we can truly fly
as our hearts lift off the ground

prompt write a poem about darkness
Such darkness I rarely see.
ReplyDeleteI love the optimism of that last stanza.
ReplyDelete"perhaps, then we can truly fly" yes, I hope so.
I like renewal found in darkness, sometimes that is so. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteFull of atmosphere and love the last stanza 🙌
ReplyDeleteI can feel that space in your words.
ReplyDeleteHow glorious, this "renewal found in darkness," calmness found "under a dome of stars," the freedom found "shedding all that weighs us down"! After the heat and the "stress" of the day, this mountain top view is definitely "the ultimate spot," True. What a wonderful poem to sink, or rather "fly," into! 🙂
ReplyDeleteLove the 'Perhaps, we can truly fly as our hearts lift off the ground'. Wouldn't that be wondrous?
