Autumn Day

It's a beautiful autumn day and the air smells of crisp and sharp dying leaves. The trees are colored in bursts of red, rust, yellow and orange.  Traveling up the winding road cutting through the mountainside there is a sense of magic waiting to happen.  On the left there is a small flock of sheep grazing in a field and I ponder their significance in the moment.  Oh look, a farm with fresh cider donuts.  A quick stop to indulge in one hot off the roller.  Oh my, the sugar just melts in my mouth.

Today, is a good day. Continuing onward, my heart pauses.  I have found the perfect scenic spot. It's a place where green fields and deep rooted trees stretch to meet the sky.  Serendipity at it's finest.  I take a deep breath letting the calmness of this place enter into my being.  I feel at peace.

Autumn brings to mind
warm butternut squash soup
sweet and earthly

deliciously creamy texture
with hints of  garlic, sage
cinnamon and nutmeg

sprinkles of roasted pepitas
ground pepper and a dash
of paprika

filling my bowl on a fall day
giving thanks for the farmer's
harvest

gathering my words what can I
share with the world that is hungry
for food from the vine of hope

will a taste leave you satisfied
yearning for a warm feeling inside
I'll let you decide.....
