The Way You Sing the Blues

Free Heart Blue illustration and picture
Courtesy of Pixabay

You’ll always be in my heart
you've been there from the start
there's something about you
maybe, it's the way you sing the blues

You’ve got me on the move
come ’on we got nothin’ to prove
come’ on we got nothin’ to prove

Your melancholy tone touching my soul
sometimes my dreams are out of control
tonight, the rare full moon is rising
tell me love, what’s over the horizon

You’ve got me on the move
come ’on we got nothin’ to prove
come’ on we got nothin’ to prove

dance with me under the moon- glow
we’ll sway to the melody warm and slow
all this thinking of you, makes me blue
perhaps, the clouds obstruct my view

You’ve got me on the move
do my tears leave you unmoved
do my tears leave you unmoved

You’ll always be in my heart
you’ve been there from the start
there is something about you
maybe, it’s the way you sing the blues

the way you sing the blues
the way you sing the blues
the way you sing the blues

Patchwork Blues

Painting by Richard Burlet “Woman in Blue”

Life is a patchwork of poetry
filled with verses and symmetry
sewn with a feather light stitch
hues of blue moonlight: rich

pieces of me and pieces of you
I've got the patchwork blues
dreaming of you under bamboo

Fabrics of the lives we live
along the way we learn to give
loves a quilt of vibrant color
don't let it be torn asunder

pieces of me and pieces of you
I've got the patchwork blues
dreaming of you under bamboo

How to mend a misshapen heart
don't want the seams to fall apart
precious blocks of  boundless time
creating our own special design

pieces of me and pieces of you
I've got the patchwork blues
dreaming of you under bamboo

Scraps of our lives quilted together
warming us no matter the weather
I know I should let these feelings go
but, our story still needs time to grow

pieces of me and pieces of you
I've got the patchwork blues
dreaming of you under bamboo

New Fallin' Snow

courtesy of Pixabay

I've got the cold weather blues
bundling up just to read my email
this heart of mine is feelin' bruised
the winter winds let out a wail

let it go, let it go
let it go, with the new fallin' snow

You know I've been thinking of you
wondering do you still think of me
full cold moon is rising into view
the willow tree now in dormancy

let it go, let it go
let if go, with the new fallin' snow

I've got the cold weather blues
a poetic song, could warm my nights
sing to me about love that's true
let's dance under December starlight

let it go, let it go
let it go, with the new fallin' snow

Abandoned - Piano Blues

Photography by Romain Thiery

within these abandoned walls

once lived happiness, music

filled the inner chambers

of a loving heart

broken keys, now out of tune

rotting floorboards moan in

grief for the songs of yesterday

sacred foundation crumbling

instrumental was the mortar

of pitch, tempo, texture and

structure which created overall

harmony in this space of time

fleeing from life when loss

was too great to bare, the cross

of misunderstanding weighing

down the fringes of reality

memories float through filtered

moonlight and a piano plays the

blues,  a heart swells, drowning in

a dream well

outside the vineyard yields

sweet seeds of hope, cupped

hands sip intoxicating flavors

life emerges to the cicadas song

Decomposing Red Roses

The Sunday Muse

Bursting into bloom,  red roses
has anyone noticed, their
delicate beauty

They speak of love and passion
but, the thorns are a reminder
of imperfection

Can you see me through the
rosy tinted haze of summer
my heart openly on display

Exposed, soft buds of affection
but, will a single rose fill
you with enchantment
or do you yearn for
a bouquet

Wilting in the poetic garden
my heart pierced by the thorns
of decaying dreams

Perhaps, love is like a  blue rose
elusive and mysterious in nature
a journey into the unattainable

Living in modern times, there is a
loss of innocence, how can I touch
you when you are too far away

How can I make you believe
in the songs of the roses
when all I feel are
the thorns of the blues

The Sea Inside Of Me

"The Sea Inside"  painting by Samy Charnine

The sea inside of me is blue
navigating the currents of life
my eyes take in a different view
wondering if an end is in sight

navigating the currents of life
golden angel(fish) swim near
wondering if an end is in sight
in silence I shed a solemn tear

golden angel(fish) swim near
colorful scales, singing a song
in silence I shed a solemn tear
my heart yearns to sing along

colorful scales, singing a song
I want to write of love's refrain
my heart yearns to sing along
tell me will I ever see you again

I want to write of love's refrain
my eyes take in a different view
tell me will I ever see you again
the sea inside of me is blue
