Big Skies

Free Nature Beach photo and picture

I need big skies
and starry nights
where dreams take flight

I need vast lands
opening space within
where new stories begin

I need big seas
and wild waves
where adventure finds a way

I need alternative music
chorus of birdsong
where harmony belongs

Sing To Us

Trees, Mountains, Sun, Sunrise, Warm

Sing to us mother earth
in the songs of the birds
chirping together in harmony

Sing to us mother earth
in the songs of the oceans
full of rhythm and waves

  Sing to us mother earth
in the songs of the trees
raw and organic in nature

 Sing to us mother earth
in the songs of the mountains
filled with low and high tones

Sing to us mother earth
in the songs of ancient tongues
spirited ballads of yesterday

Sing to us mother earth
in the songs of the heart
beating to the drum of life

I Walked the Path of Gratitude

Earth, Hour, Clock, Time, Hands, Hold

I walked the path of gratitude today

thanking the trees for purifying the air

and giving creatures a place to dwell

a cardinal sang from a high limb, as the

robins searched for worms to eat

I walked the path of gratitude today

thankful for the gift of precious water

for water is life, food and home to

creatures that call streams, lakes,

rivers and oceans their home

I walked the path of gratitude today

thankful for the flowers that are now

blooming, they bring vivid color into

our lives and give us a sense of calmness

I walked the path of gratitude today

thankful, for this big beautiful planet

and all its splendor and natural wonders

open your eyes and feast on her beauty

I walked the path of gratitude today

on a cold April day with the wind against

my back pushing me forward as hail

suddenly fell from the sky, I let out

a sigh, "climate change"

how do we reset the planet?

author's note:  I went for a walk today
and it started out sunny but, the wind
shifted and clouds rolled in.  I found myself
with the wind pushing me forward in a sudden
hail storm.

The Crossroad

courtesy of earthweal

Here we are humanity
standing at the crossroad
wandering in the unknown
the path we choose will
determine our ideals and
character

Here we are humanity
our lives put on pause
replaying yesterday songs
taking it slow, fast forwarding
could send us spiraling into
a dark hole

Here we are humanity
earth is the place we call home
what have we learned in solitude
have you noticed the air is cleaner
the water is clearer, the sky is
bluer, mother earth is breathing

Here we are humanity
captives of our own environment
the animals now run free in the forests
on the prairies and mountain ranges
exploring new territory while we
examine our mortal existence

Here we are humanity
standing at the crossroad
will you choose the path of enlightenment
or will you heart remained unchanged
open your eyes to the beauty of the earth
enjoy each day it's a precious gift

I felt inspired as we celebrate Earth Day!
On the news tonight they said while we
are on pause, the earth is rejuvenating.

wishing everyone peace and health

Traveling with the Sun and Moon

we are the  children of the  earth
traveling with  the sun  and  moon
seeking our destiny since  birth
we are the  children  of the  earth
warming hearts by a dancing hearth
natural  beauty our heads swoon
we are the  children  of the  earth
traveling with  the sun  and  moon
