Here we are humanity
standing at the crossroad
wandering in the unknown
the path we choose will
determine our ideals and
character
Here we are humanity
our lives put on pause
replaying yesterday songs
taking it slow, fast forwarding
could send us spiraling into
a dark hole
Here we are humanity
earth is the place we call home
what have we learned in solitude
have you noticed the air is cleaner
the water is clearer, the sky is
bluer, mother earth is breathing
Here we are humanity
captives of our own environment
the animals now run free in the forests
on the prairies and mountain ranges
exploring new territory while we
examine our mortal existence
Here we are humanity
standing at the crossroad
will you choose the path of enlightenment
or will you heart remained unchanged
open your eyes to the beauty of the earth
enjoy each day it's a precious gift

Weekly Challenge - The Crossroad
I felt inspired as we celebrate Earth Day!
On the news tonight they said while we
are on pause, the earth is rejuvenating.
wishing everyone peace and health
Earth is telling us in her clearing air and waters exactly what we need to do to continue the healing trend. However the men with guns on legislature steps protesting social distancing are not giving me much hope that folks will become enlightened any time soon. Sigh. I find your poem inspiring and hopeful, True. I hope humanity gets a grip. SO much depends on the next election and I am very worried about it.
ReplyDeleteI am afraid some will remain unchanged. All this protesting without social distancing puts many at risk including those protesting. Then what happens? They end up in the hospital putting stress on the health care workers. Sigh...

Such a great sense that it could have been one way but we're blessed if we can let it go another. Humanity, wake up!
Absolutely perfect!

The beauty is there but many do not notice. We took it for granted for too long. With a life of deprivation of the lockdown one suddenly gets chocked up with inconveniences. It brought the realization to the fore. How are you True, Ma'am? Stay indoors stay safe!

Yes, here we are at the Crossroads. I would like to say that I think we will have learned something, but I can't quite make myself say that. I love that we have celebrated Earth Day though with cleaner skies and a bit less pollution than last year. Maybe there is a grain of hope for humanity.
