Tonight I dream, I dream for me
my deepest thoughts are my own
drifting out of my comfort zone
what wonders will my eyes see
challenging the veils of night
cautious swipe of
a heavy sword
will the battle reap a reward
in a distance horizon of light
fighting the throes of freedom
exposing, deceit and poverty
my soul grieves for the unknown
visions of a peaceful kingdom
within the realm of uncertainty
I humbly bow at the golden throne
author's note: a bit of a challenge at dVerse hopefully, I pulled this together right.

Challenging themes indeed: the paradox of uncertainty being the only certainty.
ReplyDeleteRowan,
DeleteThank you for the read and reply..uncertainly being the only certainty..so true..
Nice dream and stream sure you hit the theme over at the dVerse stream, now go out for ice cream lol
ReplyDeleteHi Pat,
DeleteNice to see you here..thanks for the read and the reply..hey, I could go for some ice cream.
visions of a peaceful kingdom--I share your vision, may it be so! Very nice work, form poetry is always a struggle for me as well.
ReplyDeleteNico,
DeleteThanks for the comment and I agree form poetry is sometimes a struggle for me as I like to just flow in free verse at times.
Oh, I like the tentativeness of this!
ReplyDeleteSusan,
DeleteThank you for the read and reply. It is appreciated!
nice...i really like the peace i feel at the end of this..and the battle for it in the middle there...i would hope that peace possible though i imagine we will have to fight for it...which is an interesting conundrum...smiles...nicely done on the form...
ReplyDeleteHi Brian,
DeleteI always appreciate your thoughtful comments. One can hope the fight won't be too treacherous.
To see the trials of man in your dreams, face them down and turn to prayer, that is the type of aware, empowering dreams we should all have.
ReplyDeleteBeth,
DeleteI thank you for reading my work and the insightful reply. Dreams are always at the core of my being.
Oh, well done.

challenging the veils of night...nice..we can travel far in our dreams and i'm sometimes surprised where they take me...nice..
ReplyDeleteHi,
DeleteThank you for the comment. I am a bit of a dream traveler so I never know where the night will take me.
I like the visions and dreams for peace ~
ReplyDeleteGood Morning,
DeleteThank you! What greater dream can there be than that of a world in peace?
So often those deep thoughts come at night, don't they? And so often they ARE outside one's comfort zone...almost haunting. And for sure a peaceable kingdom would be nice!
ReplyDeleteMary,
DeleteThanks for reading..dreams are the road to reality..
Jeepers I wish I could remember a spiritual writing I once read in a book called "God in All Worlds" Edited by Lucinda Varley. Anyway for me dreams are reminders of how we co-create our life. Nice write about life's reality and dreams created from it.
ReplyDeleteHello,
DeleteNice to meet you! My thoughts..dreams are the gateway to the answers we seek to make our journey in life.
Nicely done, a stream of consciousness - like those that come to you just in the stages of falling into sleep, or just as you begin to awake - cast into the sonnet mold.
ReplyDeleteHello,
DeleteThank you for the reply and the prompt which made the writing possible.
Well done - I always think more once my head hits the pillow and how often my thoughts mingle into a dream...
ReplyDeleteAnna :o]
