Blue Jay's Song
Sing to me blue jay this cold winter day
truth of the heart nestled in silken wings
on restless feet yearning to fly away
sing to me blue jay this cold winter day
remembering my dreams of yesterday
enchanting melodies your music brings
sing to me blue jay this cold winter day
truth of the heart nestled in silken wings

DeleteHi Truedessa - lovely poem and what a beautiful bird .. cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteThanks Hilary! Cheers to you as well
DeleteOh to be able to hear a blue jay sing on this cold winter day would be such a blessing. I fear that they have all moved away from here for a time, hopefully to a much warmer placer! Your poem makes me yearn for spring really....and being able to hear birdsongs again!
ReplyDeleteMary, I still see one here occasionally you can't help but notice that beautiful shade of blue on a gray day!
DeleteA little song can do no wrong. The cat would watch him for other reasons though lol
ReplyDeleteI agree ...sing sing a song...
Deleteps - I think the cat might be thinking snack time...
DeleteWonderful triolet :D
ReplyDeletethank you Sanaa
DeleteI was just saying I love the bird song of these brave birds as they sing on these cold winter's days!
ReplyDeleteDonna, there are still some birds flying around I saw a cardinal a couple of days ago it flew in front of my car. Brilliant red!
DeleteJays visit the feeders regularly, always a treat. I much enjoyed your reverie...memories, dreams all can fly too quickly.
ReplyDeleteSteve K.
Maybe, some dreams are not meant to be tethered..they need to spread their wings so
Deletethey can fly...I guess we can always hold on to the memories.
Oh this brightened my morning! Beautifully crafted!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Audrey may you hear his song!
DeleteThis is a great piece, and I really like the underlying sadness to it, or a deep longing, or need, for a song on a cold day. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHi Matthew, there is a deep sadness the yearning for the songbird to sing...
DeleteLovely poem Truedessa,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the visit!
DeleteOh I love a triolet.. though I have never heard a blue jay it's so nice to imagine bird song in winter.
ReplyDeleteHi Bjorn,
DeleteDo you not have Blue Jays where you live? Blue Jays do migrate but, some decide to stay the winter.
I love the picture. The poem matches the beauty of the blue jay. May it sing to us all.
ReplyDeleteMay it be so Myrna!
DeleteHi Truedessa! It's a great coincidence to read this poem of yours as I just got done reading Louise Erdrich's The Blue Jay's Dance for college. They are pretty.
ReplyDeleteHi James,
DeleteIt seems we have a bit of synchronicity going on..interesting...I am not familiar with this book but, I will have to give it a look.
This is such a lovely poem.

ReplyDeletegracias
smiling - I think those bluejays are very lucky to have found a good food source..
Delete"remembering my dreams of yesterday" touched me the most. It feels so sincere and touching.
ReplyDeleteThank you it came from my heart
DeleteI hope she does sing..it feels like a connection - a song just for us when we need a hand through winter days
ReplyDeleteOne never knows when a songbird will sing and I think the jay appears when I need a lift in life.
Deleteenchanting melodies your music brings
ReplyDeletesing to me blue jay this cold winter day
The sweet chirping is the medicine for ailments received the day before. It is hoped one gets 'cleansed' to proceed to the next day. One gets reassurance of happiness when hearing bird-calls. Great lines Truedessa!

Hank
Thank you Hank for such a thoughtful message. I sense some words of wisdom.
DeleteEnchanting poem. There is nothing quite like being in the garden and having birds confident enough in you to tolerate you go about the business and sing too.
ReplyDeleteIn the spring there will be more birds around here. A friend sent me this pic and she said I could use to write a poem.
DeleteI love the form and the piece. Fits perfectly.
ReplyDeleteDid you know they imitate some hawks' cries?...a mysterious bird.
Hi Gail, I have heard they can mimic a hawk it is a mechanism of protection to keep actual birds of prey away from their nests. Jays are protective of their family. A beautifully mysterious bird.
DeleteHey Truedessa!
ReplyDeleteExtra points for me backtracking and commenting on your post at 2:30 in the morning! :) Thank you.
Your poetic talent takes flight, my illustrious friend. Yes, my favourite baseball team are the Toronto Blue Jays!
Gary :)
Gary,
DeleteExtra points as noted :) , Toronto Blue Jays that's a bit far from home for you...you may need some wings to fly there.
I'm going to fly on a St.Louis Cardinal! :)
Deletehaha - flying on wings of red...
