Vigilance In Changing Times

courtesy of pixabay
 summer coolly leaves
trees burn bright red and orange
while we weren't watching
~
 summer slips away
autumn arrives UN-noticed
picking red apples
~
stressed from life's hardships
leaves fall from dying oak trees
will anyone care
~
acorns will be scarce
squirrels scurry for their share
winter will be harsh

  1. And so we watch the ever changing spiral of the seasons, with more dying, more scarcity, and more harshness. Noticing (and continuing to write) is vital.

So much unruly happenings and uneasiness that one wonders what makes the wheels keep on moving. Great take True!

  4. Having a large garden and see the seasons in action is always a delight. Almost wished I had a big garden again...then thought of all the work!

  5. Few realize that hard days are ahead. Beautifully captivated with bright images. We are like the bees in Keats' To Autumn where they think that warm days will never cease.

  6. Beautiful use of colour in this poem! I like the oxymoron of summer coolly leaving - I have been watching it all through my window, including the busy squirrels!

  8. And round and round it shall go. Just have to get through the crummy change of winter.

  9. The seasons change, as do we and perhaps we all have hard times ahead. Lovely poem.

  10. I can feel the subtle change in the air. I welcome fall and winter - my favourite time here, as the waves get so wild! Fall colours are so spectacular. A gorgeous time of year.
