The sun took by heart the ocean my soul
but, to you, I freely gave the gift of love
we shared poetry, made love with words
we danced somewhere beyond the clouds
I heard the songs that you sang just for me
I fell in love with a once in a lifetime dream
The road to happiness begins with a dream
in a parallel world we touched soul to soul
mysteries of night, enchantment found me
through the darkness shone a star of love
visions became clear with passing clouds
how can I express, what I feel with words
In our world we penned beautiful words
we slept in the woven tapestry of dreams
moonlight gleamed between fading clouds
in distance waves
drifted pieces of my soul
searching for the truest meaning of love
time and space seemed non-existence to me
In our parallel world was a place for you and me
poetic verses from our lips, formulating words
tuning into the continuous frequency of love
pursuing greater connections in shared dreams
opening the gateways to the desires of the soul
touching heart to heart, high above the clouds
Behold skies of blue, behind misty clouds
take my hand my dearest love and follow me
let us share the cloaked mysteries of our souls
seduce me once again with magical words
free falling into the land of mystical dreams
hear our heart beat, to the melody of love
Exploring the
depth of unexplained love
light will appear in disappearing clouds
we are the creator of our precious dreams
in the imaginary realm you will find me
sitting under an oak tree, penning words
giving you pieces of my heart, body and soul
Holding dreams, my heart is a place of love
desires of the soul, shine through the clouds
converse with me, let the wind carry our words

This was challenging and I hope I remainedtrue to the form.
If you are out there this one is for you!
Magical! Like my poem this week, it mixes dreams and poems. What a flight of fancy you penned!
ReplyDeleteHi Colleen, Yes I think we were both exploring dreams. I really enjoyed your offering this week.
DeleteThis has a wonderfully dreamlike feel - really got swept along
ReplyDeleteThanks Jae Rose - it was challenging.
DeleteA lush and lovely dream. Understanding and sincere love is a magical thing.
ReplyDeleteRommy - Dancing on the edge of a dreamscape.
DeleteThis is an enchantment of its own and the form renders it all the more compelling. It feels like waves of story cresting on the edges of eternity. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely comment.
DeleteI'm all warm grins and "I understand!" giggles. It's just wonderful when we find another who loves what we love, who knows what that love exists, who dreams with us in ways that need no explanation because we feel the same love. This poem speaks to me of what community should be.
ReplyDeleteI think a dreaming community would be marvelous.
DeleteDreams start it all and then the stories sure have their own life, souls touching each other like no other can and away the waves ripple out from there.
ReplyDeleteDreams are the gateway to the soul. Open that gate and who knows where it would lead.
DeleteIt is a wonderful thing, to experience a soaring love like that. And rare, on this plane, but perhaps less rare to poets. This is so beautiful. I flew with you, for a little while. Smiles.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting. I hope you are well my friend.
DeleteA lovely sestina. What a winderful dream of love and community.
ReplyDeleteThank you Toni. The world could be a better place if we dreamt and loved a little more.
DeleteA love beginning with words and understanding. Beautiful!
ReplyDeletethank you Alex
DeleteThis is beyond beautiful!❤️ Especially love; "Exploring the depth of unexplained love light will appear in disappearing clouds."
ReplyDeleteSanaa - thank you for visiting.
DeleteWhen I first started posting online, it was a surprise to find how much only words can convey -- disembodied yet somehow more present. And all of it true, at least in the saying. Well done.
ReplyDeleteBrendan thanks words can convey a lot good and bad. They can also be magical opening doorways to new adventures and thoughts.
DeleteI really love how you took the challenge, a sestina is not easy, yet I think you did the best in describing this love poem in a way that made me think of sea with waves...
ReplyDeleteBjorn I rearranged the last three lines, hopefully. I have this correct.
DeleteThis is really dreamy. I really like the idea of such parallel worlds that connect love. I feel like I am floating in thought.
ReplyDeleteI think it is possible to live here and in some other parallel world. Who is to say it's not possible?
DeleteThanks for visiting Mary, so nice to see you again :)
Once again … a beautifully imaged, wonderfully rendered piece of writing. 'The road to happiness begins with a dream' … so true … and wise: if you cannot dream, it will not come to pass.
ReplyDeleteWendy, I agree without dreams we have nothing to move us forward. We become stagnant in life.
DeleteTruedessa, this has got to be right at the top of my list of your favorites. The form worked so well for you in this touching love story. The first stanza, especially:
ReplyDeleteI freely gave the gift of love
we shared poetry, made love with words
we danced somewhere beyond the clouds
Says so much. Brava!
Thank you Victoria, this means so much coming from you as I admire your poetry. This was definitely a challenging prompt.
DeleteAnd you rose to the challenge!
DeleteEverything is possible when you are in love and your poem explores this so well and was a most enjoyable read.
ReplyDeleteT.D, I really liked the way you linked together love experiences with writing, poems with priority and vice versa, writing with love. I'll try the form soon when it feels right.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you knew I wrote the bird song tongue in cheek. Thanks for reading it an the literacy Day poem and for your nice comments.
..
You've got me thinking the sestina was made for love poems!
ReplyDeleteI loved your beautiful poem. So very much.
ReplyDeletethank you so much for visiting my post today, and I hope it isn't haunting you.
This is truly beautiful! Breath taking! Thank you for your wonderful words! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteLove is the only magic left on earth and you wove this destination beautifully. Lol- if only oak tress could tell us the things they’ve heard!
ReplyDeleteHi Truedessa, thank you for your nice comment on my poem for Poetry Pantry tomorrow. I always appreciate your words & am always very glad to see you whenever YOU share.
