How Do We Become Good Creatures

How do we become good creatures
Is it in the small things we do during the day
We begin with compassion in our hearts
We feed the lonely goose that cannot fly
We plant trees creating balance on earth
We walk in nature respecting the sacred land
We commune with the wild birds, deer and squirrels

How do we become good creatures
Is it in the small things we do during the day
We begin with a bit of kindness in our souls
We smile at those that cross our daily path
We sing with a song of hope for the future
We listen with an ear of deeper understanding
We pray for those who have lost the will to pray

How do we become good creatures
Is it in the small things we do during the day
We begin with a peaceful meditative mind
We speak with soft words of encouragement
We sympathize with those who are grieving
We dream for a society of higher consciousness
We love with a heart of gratitude & forgiveness

  1. I love this poem, True. Feeding the injured goose, smiling at those we pass, kindness, Being Peace. An inspiring poem to begin a year when we will need to practice all these things.

  2. "We pray for those who have lost the will to pray" The best way to be in peace, I think. A happy new year should comprise all the actions that come out of those beautiful thoughts expressed in the poem.

  9. Your 3 catalogues of the small things are profound and convincing--if these be small things, then YES, it is in the small things . . . .

  11. Happy New Year, True Blue! How do we become good creatures? Hmmm... well, by being frank, even when it hurts a bit (so no tip-toeing whatsoever), by being reliable (also in bad times), and I guess by caring more about people than thumbs up and your own image on social media. That's a start.

    Hello True
    How are you?
