Desert Sojourn

Endless beauty, majestic scenery
visionaries traversing the desert
humming vortex of magnetic energy
ancient gatekeepers stand alert

tingling sensation, mounting anticipation
portal to another dimension

valley of the gods

perched high above the canyon walls
meditating to the sound of ancient drums
within eyesight, a condor circling
a master of the azure sky

desert willows, juniper trees, wild cactus flowers
a vista of parched land, a tumbleweed
rolls past on a half-hearten breeze

ascending to a higher consciousness

silence hovers, awareness becomes acute
ghostly apparitions, dwellers of mysticism
guard the tall monuments of yesterday

a terrain where souls cry over lost dreams
adventures never full-filled…how many
traveled before I, in this sacred place
of towering red sandstone buttes

harmony in the heartbeat of the land

Thinking of a friend, today

I have been to the Arizona Desert and when I was there the vortexes were strong often my equilibrium was off.

Valley of the Rocks

Oh,  to  travel  beyond  heavenly star beads
entering  realms  where  ancient  ones  drum
aromatic  purple  sage, drifting tumbleweeds
deep within russet earthly  soil, vortexes hum

salmon canyons,  wild  spirited  horses  run 
  thunder- bird hovers,  full of energy and light
journey quest  beyond  the burnt  orange  sun
  hot desert  oasis , primordial power in flight

clustered buttes,  monuments of  sandstone 
 towering  totems , spiritual animal guides
 breaking  hushed  silence, winds gently moan

within canyon walls mysticism  resides

lost in thoughts echoes of horse hooves

gold//yellow rays sashay across an electric blue sky

traveling cinnamon valley of stone and sand

chanting primal songs shadowy apparitions cry

sensing vibrations, inner heartbeat of the land

sunlit vista, journey into the great unknown

majestic castle butte, fortress of dreams

towering cliffs , view of a king on a throne

flickering in the horizon golden sunbeams

beneath scorching sun,  parched dry earth

souls wander protecting sacred gateways

cool rain quenching thirst, offering rebirth

dancing rhythm, rain makers give praise

lost in thoughts, embracing renewal

Vortexes Hum Phoenix Sings

green valley, tumbleweeds, salmon colored rocks

chiseled masterpieces created by  gods

mysterious  pathways , gatekeepers watch

protecting ancient secrets, appointed jobs

panoramic vista,  traveling dusty trails

giant sandstones , towering  mythical buttes

blowing  soft whisper, haunting tales

within canyon walls dreams take root

before my eyes visions take formation

drifting puffy clouds,  blue dramatic sky

casting  ghostly shadows on the desert floor

spectacular view,  eerie winds heave a sigh

storytellers chant, drums beat,  spirits soar

under a blazing sun the gods walked this land

thunder rattled, powerful warriors danced

leaving  earthly imprints in burnt rust sand

magical moment heaven & earth entranced

natural phenomenon splendor in the sky

 supernatural occurrence new sunrise

breaking horizon clouds form wings

 orange rays, fiery tail, teardrops, silent cries

vortexes hum.. majestic phoenix sings

gracing dwellers below rare picturesque sight

ancestors channeling power, blessing the land

overhead the mighty bird takes flight

time stands still, hourglass of sand
