gatekeepers stand alert

portal to

valley of the gods
perched high above

desert willows,
juniper trees, wild cactus flowers
chiseling the
barrier of our human towers
ascent to a higher
plane
silence hovers,
consciousness drifts down stream
ghostly
apparitions, ancient dwellers of mysticism
we float
into a primitive dream
levitating our
being, entrancing illusion-ism
mirages, form
before our eyes
we long to fly the
azure sky
transformation
under a desert sun
arms burst into
beautiful wings
legs sprout strong
talons
our animal spirit
