Painters of Stars

Long ago and far away, before roads, cars busy towns and cities were built.  There was a place unspoiled where trees grew tall and buffalo roamed. Halona was happy living amongst her people. Her names means "of good fortune" as she had a dream that the star people were watching from the heavens and would lead the people in their greatest needs.

She climbed the hills and came to the mouth of a great mountain.  There before her a portal of shining light. She entered softly, unheard. On the cavern walls story paintings of fire and warring nations.  She saw little speckles of light dappling against the smooth saucer shaped hallows of rocks.

The starpainters are taking over now,  leaving a trail of light in times of darkness for generations to come. Halona paints in hues of blue and green for mother earth's survival.

author's note; A bit of fictional storytelling for tonight. I hope you enjoyed it. I had to revise multiple times  to keep it at 144 words. The story took on a life of its own and I had two full pages and could have kept writing.
