The lady of Shalott
under a mysterious curse
never to look upon Camelot
one day she hears his song
entranced by his lovely verse
that’s when thing went wrong
a glance on the shadow land
under moonlight she would traverse
leaving isolation was unplanned
in a boat she departed down river
entangled in the tapestry of her curse
the night air tasted cold and bitter
drifting into an eternal dream
singing her songs of love in verse
she had a lovely face, Lancelot beamed
under a glowing sky her soul soared
in the silence not a voice was heard

Prompt: For today’s Poetics, I would like you all to choose ONE of the paintings by John Atkinson Grimshaw and write a poem inspired by it. You can write an ekphrastic poem or simply take the title as a springboard or both. The choice is yours.
