A Heart of Courage

wikimedia

"The lion is the symbol of the soul essence of humankind
And the soul is eternal"

Nature has given us many warnings of future events
yet we walk blindly in denial, fearing the truth of what
is and what will be

How many wild fires, earthquakes, floods and volcano
eruptions must we endure before we realize we are
losing sacred ground

It's not too late to open our eyes and awaken our inner
spirits. We must be guardians of our planet and all it's
living creatures.

We all walk our own journey seeking enlightenment,
for light is truth in our souls, perhaps we lack the
heart of the lion that is filled with courage and can
tackle the beast of fear

The ghosts of yesterdays follow us today and sadly
will haunt us in generations to come.  Are we the living
dead waiting for our own awakening?

Tell me, we will experience a shift in thinking before we
are all just ghosts?

I believe there is hope and hope is what sustains me...

Poetics: Last Lines
Taking the last line of a book and creating a poem
of your choice.

I grabbed the first book on my nightstand that I saw.
Mystery of the White Lions - Children of the Sun God
by Linda Tucker.

I guess it's a bit of free verse...

Roar of a Dream

courtesy of Wikipedia

standing on the edge of reality
in the grasslands of the African
savanna

I hear the roar of a dream
chasing me in the soaring
humidity

gazing upon the umbrella thorn
my mouth parched thirsting
rain to cool the heat of my
heart's desire

Through Different Eyes - I See Change

The Sunday Muse

I.

I see the world through different eyes but, my vision is crystal clear

II.

In my vision, fire and water, a new landscape evolves before me

III.

My sight changes with the environment, I am a survivalist

January Moon - Will I See You Soon

Wolf, Animal, Wild, Nature, Carnivores

January full moon where have you gone
hiding behind the dark clouds of night
will you show your face before the dawn
are the tides rising somewhere out of sight

hiding behind the dark clouds of night
do you hear the wolf's  mighty howl
are the tides rising somewhere out of sight
in a new landscape the wolf now prowls

do you hear the wolf's mighty howl
the wilderness sings, a song of sadness
in a new landscape the wolf now prowls
trying to find a new path in the blackness

the wilderness sings, a song of sadness
a snowy owl keeps watch from the pines
trying to find a new path in the blackness
nature is sending humanity warning signs

a snowy owl keeps watch from the pines
will you show your face before the dawn
nature is sending humanity warning signs
January full moon where have you gone

author's note:  Today is the full moon and
it's too cloudy to see it here tonight. I wonder
will the clouds lift so I can catch a glimpse.

Element Number Eight

Pixabay

breathe in, breathe out
element #8  keeps me alive
it's called the "breath of life"

fishing in the waters of my
imagination,  I bait a line in
hope of catching a dream
hooking a bit of poetry

Oxygen forms in the heart
of the stars,  shinning from
the heavens,  I gaze in awe
breathless
casting
my
wish
of
peace

Who Can Tame the Beast

Saeed Khan/AFP via Getty Images

The spirit of fire can be a mighty beast
when it is raging out of control
destroying everything in its path

there is no place to hide from
roaring flames,  can this dragon
be tamed

can an inferno of words, calm
this beast that rises higher within
me, trying to grasp the magnitude
of the scorching trail of ash & soot
blowing with the four winds

shall we call upon the deities of rain
to lend a helping hand, would they
hear the cries of the living and mourn
the dead

who can snuff this fire that consumes
the land...firefighters work endlessly
to control widespread mayhem

birds have wings to lift them above
a burning landscape but, what of
the other creatures who have no
wings

my heart is heavy if only tears could
douse the flames I would cry a river
I lip prayers of hope for containment

author's note: My heart grieves for
all the loss.

Running Amuck

courtesy of Pixabay

exhausted, I sleep  in the warmth of my bed
but, soon my world swirls around in my head
no sign of life,  driving along  a barren field
alone in the darkness, I hold my totem shield

In this realm, no car can travel; here I must hoof
rooted sentinels guard a world with no roofs
listening to the lost songs of nature's lullaby
the once luminous moon,  dims in a dark sky

a swarm of crows circle above in the distance
our earthly haven is in need of  assistance
I wonder in which world do I truly belong
my heart grieves, how to fix all these wrongs

I see waters filled with mud of another kind
have our worldly leaders lost their minds
are we walking on the cusp of our extinction
how can we escape the curse of our affliction

I stand under the boughs of a weeping willow
my tears falling along the slopes of my pillow
tell me, when will our consciousness awaken
are we entering an era of the lost and forsaken

Someone tell me, how do we change this path
darkness hovers, can we escape our own wrath
