I
am considered an oracle of secret knowledge
many
seek me to obtain mystical wisdom
I am kin to sorcerers & companion to seers
possessing perfect vision in the nocturnal world
I
am a messenger in the shadows of dreams
my missive, taking flight in the realm of night
I
am a hunter in the wilderness, seeking my prey
strong
talons, feasting on lizards, birds &
mice
I
am able to speak the language of the
trees
wind
, moon & stars, as I circle the
heavens
I
am a bridge between two worlds, listen
&
hear my chortles in your spiritual ear
I
am full of mystery & I will guide you
through
darkness with my keen eyesight
If
you meet me on the journey of life
listen
carefully to my words for they
are meant especially for you...

Owl or eagle /// Enjoyed this one nevertheless ~
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Grace,
DeleteSince the bird is nocturnal it would not be an eagle but, the eagle holds many of the same symbolic interpretations. Thanks for the comment.
you are talking about Google arent you, hahaha...ok was thinking owl myself...some bird of prey...seriously harry potter has me thinking owls, having read that with my son....very cool....we only so oft get owls around here...
ReplyDeletehaha Brian well, I guess from the first picture I posted Google might come to mind. I had to take the pic down my blog did not like it much as it took up too much space..lol..the owl is full of mysticism and fits in well with Harry Potter. I saw some of the movies and they were full of adventure.
DeleteGood one...I didn't think of google....was thinking of Orion contellation..
ReplyDeleteOh I like Orion constellation that would have been a good one for a riddle. Thanks for reading.
Deleteoh ....those that are able to speak the language of the trees
ReplyDeletewind , moon & stars i wanna be friend with...nice..
Good Morning Claudia,
DeleteI agree anyone who speaks this language would be a great friend to have in their life.
Ah. very much an owl here... the talons and the bird of night fits... yes I think it fits quite well with many myths of the wise owl
ReplyDeleteBjorn,
DeleteThe owl is full of the mysteries of the night and considered to hold power in many cultures.
A nocturnal bird with strong talons feeding on small creatures - must be the wise owl! Nicely Truedessa!
ReplyDeleteHank
Hi Hank,
DeleteThanks for the visit and the owl is indeed wise.
Not sure which culture you are tapping into here. Can't see google with talons or even wisdom :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Aprille,
DeleteI am not tapping into one particular culture I decided to just go with the various symbolism attached to the bird. The owl means many things in different cultures. For me the owl has brought some powerful messages and warnings so when one enters my life I come to full attention. Thanks for visiting :-)
--and the word kn OWL edge-- gives it away as well :-)
DeleteWe have a White Owl flying very low over the garden each early dusk. It sometimes touches my hair with its wake of air and that never fails to awe me.
Hi Aprille,
DeleteI do like that word..how clever of you to see the "owl" in it. Oh, I would so like to see a white owl how magical to have one hover over your garden. Thanks for sharing.
Oh yes must be the wise old owl?? Very nice :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the visit ..the owl is a wise and beautiful creature.
DeleteOkay, I was wondering about a nocturnal animal but not quite very much so.
ReplyDeleteBut the thought of Artemis had made its presence in my mind throughout because of the nocturnal and wild images in the poem.
Interesting though... yes an owl appears to be quite wise, what with those orb-like eyes and the hooting in the night.
Hello,
DeleteI found your comment quite interesting as Artemis is the Greek goddess of the wild-land & mistress of animals. I hadn't thought of her in a while. Thank you for that insight.
You may have riddled the owl, but I feel you have written more of yourself than you let on "..listen carefully to my words because they are meant especially for you.." indeed :) ~wonderful imagery~ peace, Jason
ReplyDeleteHi Jason, thanks for visiting and I think you are a bit intuitive.
DeleteOwl, I think too... A powerful totem to have (not saying she's yours, but I too read what Jason saw)..
ReplyDeleteA beautifully powerful write, Trudessa!
Thank you for reading and an owl certainly can be a powerful totem animal.
DeleteBeautiful write (and riddle) leading us to the wise old owl.
ReplyDeleteAnna :o]
Very vivid!! I was thinking of Hope anyway :)
ReplyDeleteAkila - Well an an owl does carry a message of hope for some people.
DeleteThought you were going all hawk
ReplyDeleteBut as I continued to gawk
Seems like an owl
That you gave a howl
But then you like the moon
So under it the owl may swoon
You know I adore the hawk
Deleteand often stop to gawk
whenever he is flying around
but, today the owl wanted
to have his say so I went
with the flow & gave it a go..
Nice take on Riddles,love owls.
ReplyDeleteGood Afternoon,
DeleteThanks the riddle prompt was rather fun. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do but, the owl spoke to me :-)
Nice portrait of an owl -- well done!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much how kind of you to visit.
DeleteIn some Native American traditions, the hawk is considered the messenger, but in reading this the owl came clearly into my mind. I love the symbolism of totems.
ReplyDeleteHi Victoria,
DeleteYes, the hawk is indeed a messenger and one of my favorite raptors. He is constantly making his presence in my life. I do not take that lightly. Thanks for the visit.
Owl. This is a beautiful tribute.
ReplyDeleteHi Margaret,
DeleteThank you a lovely tribute to a beautiful creature.
Beautifully done! 'Owl' came to mind immediately, mainly because my neurons linked 'knowledge' to 'Athena' and then to the bird that symbolizes her. After that hit in the first stanza, it seemed to fit all the others.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning,
DeleteThanks for the visit the prompt was creative and fun.
I am looking for some spiritual guidance right now! Your poem points a way! Thanks. k.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning,
DeleteI am glad I could point the way! Hope all goes well for you.
I have no clue, but the words were lovely! I was walking on a high plains dirt road this morning and watching hawks fly, so these words really struck home:
ReplyDeleteI am a hunter in the wilderness, seeking my prey
strong talons, feasting on lizards, birds & mice
Have a good one!
Good Afternoon,
DeleteI saw hawks today as well they seem to follow me
so, I wonder what they have to say this day. My
riddle leads to the path of the wise owl.
Very powerful, Truedessa! Love your tender force... :)
