planted
in a vast fertile field
roots
take hold & hope is grown
how
many bright faces will it yield
in
autumn's mist, dreams are sown
vines
twisting around weaving a path
will
it be enough to feed the masses
lost
& hungry will we feel the wrath
minds
poisoned by mysterious gases
cut
of a knife soft flesh, hard shell
carving
eyes, so the world may see
candlelight
love a place to dwell
opening
our hearts holds the key
tossing
pumpkin seeds food for thought
fall
breeze may new dreams be caught

ReplyDeleteGood Morning Brian,
DeleteThanks, titles are always hard for me..I do wish we could feed the
masses..no one should go hungry.
I specially like these lines:
ReplyDeletecarving eyes, so the world may see
candlelight love a place to dwell
Very meaningful words ~
Grace,
DeleteThank you...may light always glow...
In the sand the eyes remain
ReplyDeleteUnable to board the train
To coming around to see
Unlike you or me
Too bad eyes could not be carved in
That would sure give the world a spin
Would be nice to carve some eyes
Deletesure would like to feed the masses
hush hungry cries , save some lives
guess some eyes need some glasses..
Some need them thick
DeleteTo break through that blinding brick
I really liked your use of rhyme and rhythm in this one.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteThe carving eyes so world may see is a great line.. Very powerful .. & you weaved it into the poem with great effect
ReplyDeleteHi Bjorn,
DeleteThanks so much..wish it was that easy for the world to see with open eyes.
A sonnet no less. And a lovely one at that.
ReplyDeleteFeeding the masses by scattering seeds. I'll start straightaway in my garden. Find out how hard they are to grow.
And I can do with new dreams.
Aprille, Thanks for picking up on the form and I hope your garden grows with abundances.
DeleteIt is a wonderful sonnet. And much food for thought here. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the time to read and leave a comment. It is appreciated.
