Waterbirds of Thought

Coming, going, the waterbirds don't leave a trace
moving together in tranquil waters with grace

standing on the shoreline of opportunity
mastering the art of mystic serenity

flowing with the natural elements of thought
water, land and air, harmony cannot be bought

freeing our minds, is the beginning of knowledge
soaring on wide wings, there is a place of solace

Hosted by Laura - Choose a fragment from the mystic poets and write a poem.  I chose the following using the 8 line octave form each line consists of 12 syllables.

Coming, going, the waterbirds don’t leave a trace (Dogen)
