The Sunday Muse |
Do I pick a lens to see
what is before me
through the mist
of winter
bitter cold lingers
numbing out a
mechanism of
survival
rose colored glasses
an escape from reality
I see you, the scars
are visible, the loss
of a world we once
knew is now gone
dreams are unique
spectacles that help
us see through the
blurriness of life
strengthening vision
clarity needed on the path
forward

May you always see with clear eyes
I really feel this poem....especially that world we once knew........i dont understand why world leaders are not ACTING.
ReplyDeleteSherry, so much has changed in the last two years we must seek out new paths in the journey and try to correct the damage done.
DeleteI love this so much Truedessa! Poetry full of truth and beauty! Dreams are enlightening.
ReplyDeleteThank you Carrie - you are always so supportive.
DeleteBrightest rays of light are wished for you.

Wow! Great quote
Happy Sunday
Much love...
Gillena, thank you dreams are indeed another lens of magic.
DeleteThis felt elegiac in its contrasts and reads beautifully.
ReplyDeleteThank you - I guess I am feeling a bit sad as things just don't seem to get better, yet I strive to see better days ahead.
DeleteThe world we once knew will not return Some are pleased about that. The world must change into a better fairer place freed from avarice narcissism and destruction of the planet
ReplyDeleteThat is true, we cannot change time only adjust our vision and move forward but, without unity we will have a divided vision.
DeleteAppreciate the thoughts in this, so well stated. It's a time of high stress and re-evaluation, as change always is, and nothing seems easy, especially clarity.
ReplyDeleteThanks Hedge, clarity is indeed difficult on most days but, I continue to seek a corrective lens. Sometimes, it starts in a dream.
DeleteWishing you clarity in your life.
Peace and love
Clarity is needed, yes, and the motivation to go on and not to look back.
ReplyDeletePerhaps, a key component, is motivation. It seems our energy is depleted with all the chaos.
DeleteA lovely poetic expression on the turmoil and fragility of our world.
ReplyDeleteThanks Helen, hopefully, the situations get better.
DeleteHappy Sunday to you!
No spectacles strong enough to see through the mire now, but we can always hope.
ReplyDeleteWe can always hope and we should cling to that hope.
Deletebitter cold lingers numbing out a
ReplyDeletemechanism of survival
It is true, True! There are too many things lingering that affect many that survival is something real. Life is compounded to many untold difficulties brought on by the pandemic. Hope 2022 will be different

Hi Hank
DeleteThere is always hope but, with omicron it is not starting out good.
Stay safe my friend…
some escapism sure does feel good these days, and clarity even better. well said
ReplyDeleteI agree, a bit of escapism is needed with all the challenges of this modern world.
Delete"Do I pick a lens to see
ReplyDeletewhat is before me" - good question. Do we choose what we see?
Perhaps, we do at times, it helps one cope.
DeleteI love the opening of this poem, and the truthfulness of our old world.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWe have to stay strong to keep dreams for a healthy mother alive. The alternative cannot be considered. Powerful poeming.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I agree strength is needed.
