Where or When (things past)

Where or when things past
I know not the window of time
does it matter, why do you ask

Can you stop a runaway train
traveling on the wrong track
clickety-clack in falling rain

Standing on a lonely platform
watching arrivals & departures
trying to weather the storm

Where or when things past
I know not the window of time
does it matter, why do you ask

Can you start a new soul journey
if you’re stuck in some muck
should it even concern me

I could write heartfelt verses
would you feel my poetic words
unlocking the mysterious universe

Where or when things past
I know not the window of time
does it matter, why do you ask

Can dreams change our direction
can we intersect at the crossing
leading us on a path of transition

The wheels of time can be cruel
singing the ballads of yesterday
thinking of you, feeling blue

Where or when things past
I know not the window of time
does it matter, why do you ask

In My Deepest January

Free Winter Lake photo and picture

In my deepest January
nature is my sanctuary
beauty in the snow covered land
solitary goose makes her stand

winter's weight is hard to carry
in my deepest January
frozen reflections dancing trees
songbirds lingering singing free

feeling the wrath of bitter squalls
my mighty fortress with no walls
in my deepest January
thawing hearts in February

starry heavens and dreamy nights
praying for longer days of light
nature is my sanctuary
in my deepest January

MisFortune Lingers

A lone dog wanders with a keen nose
picking up a trail, following where it leads
he can tell if one has good intentions, even
uses his sense of smell as a compass
be-cause dogs are masters of the art of sniffing

He is always aware of his surroundings
decoding and interpreting all those scents
seeking out caves by the sea cream-y waves
running with a bit of drift-wood on the beach

The black crow caws out a warning verse
see him perched on a limb of a dead tree
his song louder with renewed vigor
a storm is approaching clouds roll in
the albatross of misfortune lingers

The wind bellows the lost sailor by name
use what means you have for survival
what arose out at sea we will never know
but, the dog sniffs at the salt water air

As if knowing....

Hints of a Song

Free Hearts Notepaper photo and picture

We gather to create magic
with our drums in hand
in a dimly lit room
candlelight flickers

Sage, sweet-grass and lavender
fill the air

Embracing this sacred place
searching for hints of a song
emerging from hearts of love

A rhythmic pulse of hope

Winter's Breath

Free Landscape View photo and picture

Winter's breath can be bitter cold
crossing an uncharted threshold
icy waters of reflections
cracking are human connections

dark clouds hover over the earth
red cardinal sings of rebirth
winds blow in uncertain directions
cracking are human connections

faraway snowy mountain tops
temperatures fall as the sun drops
starry sky leaves lasting impressions
cracking are human connections

can dreams thaw the January night
hope hinges on slivers of moonlight
melting hearts changing perceptions
cracking are human connections

Come Break Away

Free sea ocean sunset illustration

Come break away with me
let us sail dreams just for today
feel the wonders of the tranquil sea
cast away the gray, embrace sun-rays

Lord knows I’m feeling blue
lord knows I’m still in love with you
lord knows I need to get over you
but, that is something I can never do

In the margin lies my heartfelt notes
raw emotions and poetic phrases
scribbled an inspirational quote
let words dance across the pages

Come break away with me
let us sail dreams just for today
feel the wonders of the tranquil sea
cast away the gray, embrace sun-rays

Lord knows I’m feeling blue
lord knows I fell in love with you
Lord knows I need to get over you
but, that is something I can never do

Past foam and spray finding our way
Listening to the songs of the tranquil sea
billowing sails will carry us away
docking in a quiet bay to simply be

Lord know this song is for you
lord knows this song is for you
lord knows this song is for you…you…you..you

Morning Blinds

Free Turkey Pigeon Bird photo and picture

 The gray mist of dawn
holds back the light
awaiting the song of
the mourning doves
soothing coo-coo

slow, sleepily the dreamer
awakens in the stillness
of the softening fringes
between yawning moon
and winking sunlight

lifting the morning blinds
greeting the new day
