There is an emptiness within
a hunger that cannot be satisfied
it rumbles deep under the skin
a heart that has been blindsided
feeding on poetic words amplified
when will the joys of spring begin
feasting on dandelions hillside
there is an emptiness within
dVerse Q242 Hunger

writing a 44 word quadrille incorporating the word "hunger"
Beautifully done! :)

That really strikes a poetic chord for me.
Truedessa, I like the collection of lines you have here, and there is an easy way to switch them around where they still stand in cohesion. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteYour poem is beautiful, yet sad! That yearning for something more. The blindsided heart never rests in peace it seems.
ReplyDeleteMay spring fill it with buttercups, baby geese, birdsong and sunny mornings.
ReplyDeleteI like the circularity of your quadrille, Truedessa, with the repetition of the first line at the end, and the thought of ‘a hunger that cannot be satisfied’, rumbling under the skin, a longing for something unattainable perhaps?
ReplyDeleteThis feasting is on Dandelions I think and that you’re smart to do so. Lots of vitamin K. 👏🏽 the words are beautiful. Thank you. Blessings, Selma Martin.
ReplyDeleteThe framing of your quadrille with the repeated line is so effective as it reminds that heartache is not instantly healed. Thankfully, Spring brings us hope, even if in small doses of dandelions and sunshine.
ReplyDeleteNice one
ReplyDeleteMuch love
Come summer those dandelions will spread...
ReplyDeleteSo lovely, True, how these words speak to a hunger that's beyond the coming of spring!
ReplyDeleteWonderful poem, Truedessa!
