Safety an After Thought

courtesy of Pixabay

Growing up on a hot summer day
we never really thought of safety
to the old quarry we made our way

the crystal-clear water looked refreshing
our only thought was how to proceed
to cool off would be a welcomed blessing

a cannon ball or a high swan-dive
the only obstacles the rocks below
but, we were daring and survived

safety was an after thought
as we laughed in the warm sun
praying we wouldn't get caught

Happy Easter for those who celebrate
Happy Spring to all....stay safe

  1. Yup, generations grew up that way, riding bikes with no helmets, playing lawn darts, etc... And we somehow survived.
