I See Myself With a Different Eye

artist unknown

I see myself as a night traveler
awakening in blue misty fog
traveling moonbeams from
here to there...

I see myself soaring the heavens
on unfurled wings searching for
light, dancing in the stars...

I see myself connected to others
weaving threads of our lives
strengthening our bond...

I see myself on the river's edge
reflections of the transformation
of my journey and life...

I see myself under a weeping willow
crying, hoping you won't have to...

I see myself sleeping in the darkness
sometimes afraid,  as I know not
what the night will bring...

I see myself and the world through
different eyes...and I wonder when
you look at me...do you see my
imperfections, my sorrow....

I see myself and I wonder who am i...
a dreamer who dances in the
clouds, giving my heart and I don't
know why?

Captured

Self-Portrait, Francis Bacon

Will I be remembered
through the hands of time

Will you see me as I see myself
a man captured in the torments of life

Will you say I was a prisoner of my own mind
expressing  my world as seen through dark eyes

Will you feel my anguish, reflections of twisted emotions
through the camera lens,  black and white I remain for all time

But, will I be remembered...
