I sing a hymn of summer love
for all the joys
earth gives us
the sun shines from high above
your natural beauty, I can trust
Oh, sweet willow, please don't cry
your heart has grieved for too long
for you, I sing this soothing lullaby
in my heart beats
a poet's song
precious gifts of
sage and thyme
creating a world of
wondrous rhyme
for living waters, I whisper praise
offering a drink of true reflection
resting near the river, in a lover's daze
I pen you verses of deep affection
majestic mountains links to heaven
standing firm, marveling at your beauty
mother earth forgive us our transgressions
sometimes we are foolish and a bit moody
precious gifts of
sage and thyme
creating a world of
wondrous rhyme
forests speak in an ancient tongue
communing with woodland creatures
in stillness sacred songs remain unsung
sonnets of love written in poetic meters
I sing a hymn of summer love
for all the joys
earth gives us
the sun shines from high above
your natural beauty, I can trust
linking with earthweal
Thank you for reading
Author’s note: A song
to welcome summer’s
warmth, spring has
been difficult this
year.

Ah, so lovely, a hymn of summer love. The other day i walked in the dunes and marvelled at the varied wildflowers and succulents growing right now. So much life! Loved reading your poem, True.
ReplyDeleteJust lovely :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm sure the earth sung right back at you.
ReplyDeleteThere is a wonderful connection to the earth in your words.
ReplyDeleteA sweet hymn of summer love, and I love the repetition of ‘precious gifts of sage and thyme / creating a world of wondrous rhyme’.
ReplyDeleteWhen nothing else can be trusted, when human love is absent or misplaced, there is the love within us for our great mother, which never fails once you have found it. Lovely response to the prompt.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful, prayerful hymn. It is precisely what I needed to read now and the world needs more words like yours. They are healing and remind us of the joy that does still exist in this world.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful verse of nature.
