Do not focus on me
for I am just just a
vessel, a holder of light
focus on the light
the moon has your back
the sun has your face
the light in the middle
is the place of dreams
where sky and earth meet
if you cannot find a portal
then dig one in the sand
caught between your toes
walk the shore of your
wildest imagination
let the stars chart your
pathway in the journey
all you need is a starting
point, a baptism of thought
connecting with the stars
create your own constellation
shimmering in an endless
sky of wonder

author's note: This has been a rough week
my power has been out, a terrible storm
rolled in causing chaos. I have been wandering
dark spaces searching for light.
Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian Friends!
"the moon has your back
ReplyDeletethe sun has your face" - perfect!
Thanks gbit
Delete"Focus on the light" and the "place of dreams where sky and earth meet". This is so beautiful, my friend. Sigh. Hope your power is back on and the storm has passed. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteIt’s currently on but, for how long? It has been cold at night with no heat.
Delete"A baptism of thought" what a glorious line! This whole poem is wonderful in so many ways! I love it Truedessa!! I hope it won't be too much longer before you have lights.
ReplyDeleteThanks Carrie, my power came on today. I could really relate to the photo.
DeleteMy favorite verse is,
ReplyDelete"if you cannot find a portal
then dig one in the sand
caught between your toes"
That takes a little bit of thinking, I'll take the acorns I picked up today on our walk rather then the beach sand from my toes.
..
Well, it is said if you eat acorns you can see the future. So, perhaps, there is a portal in that acorn after all.
DeleteSuch possibility in your words here True.

Hi Rob,
DeleteAlways good to have light on your side.
The last verse is my favourite, for its call to creativity
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by my sumie Sunday
Much💛love
Thanks Gillena, I might add you are very creative.
DeleteThis is beautiful, full of the light it celebrates, and the endless but never futile struggle to bring the lantern forward with us along a path full of danger that might otherwise overwhelm us. Too many good lines to quote, but I especially liked "..tbe light in the middle/is the place of dreams..:
ReplyDeleteThanks Hedge, the place of dreams is mystical and magical. Who knows what will transpire at any given time?
DeleteWithout power, in darkness and cold, you managed to produce a beautiful poem of light and hope. Kudos to you, my friend, and I hope your life has returned to some semblance of normality by now!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bev, I guess I had some time to ponder the light and darkness last week. I have a new appreciation for modern conveniences.
DeleteEach stanza ... brilliant. So many stand alone in sheer strength, great writing.
ReplyDeleteThank you Helen for your kind words.
DeleteThis is a writer's meditation--love it!
ReplyDeleteHmm, I like that as I felt like I was in a meditative state. The photo really was inspiring.
Delete"create your own constellation shimmering in an endless" love that line! Thanks for writing this poem!
ReplyDeleteThanks Susie, your poem was beautiful.
DeleteI love this, especially the part about the portal.
ReplyDeleteThank you, we need to find those portals wherever we can. Dig away!
DeleteThis is powerful and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you - I do hope that your rough week is a thing of the past.
Such a beautiful poem, Truedessa, and coming from you in a difficult time. Please take care!
ReplyDeleteThank you for coming by my blog! I hope you are ok and the power is back on! I love your poem! Very meaningful! Keep shining! Big Hugs!
