Focus On The Light

Courtesy of the Sunday Muse

Do not focus on me
for I am just just a
vessel,  a holder of light

focus on the light
the moon has your back
the sun has your face

the light in the middle
is the place of dreams
where sky and earth meet

if you cannot find a portal
then dig one in the sand
caught between your toes

walk the shore of your
wildest imagination

let the stars chart your
pathway in the journey

all you need is a starting
point,  a baptism of thought

connecting with the stars
create your own constellation
shimmering in an endless
sky of wonder

burning bright

author's note:  This has been a rough week
my power has been out, a terrible storm
rolled in causing chaos. I have been wandering
dark spaces searching for light.

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian Friends!

  2. "Focus on the light" and the "place of dreams where sky and earth meet". This is so beautiful, my friend. Sigh. Hope your power is back on and the storm has passed. Stay safe.

    1. It’s currently on but, for how long? It has been cold at night with no heat.

  4. My favorite verse is,
"if you cannot find a portal
then dig one in the sand
    caught between your toes"
That takes a little bit of thinking, I'll take the acorns I picked up today on our walk rather then the beach sand from my toes.

    1. Well, it is said if you eat acorns you can see the future. So, perhaps, there is a portal in that acorn after all.

  7. This is beautiful, full of the light it celebrates, and the endless but never futile struggle to bring the lantern forward with us along a path full of danger that might otherwise overwhelm us. Too many good lines to quote, but I especially liked "..tbe light in the middle/is the place of dreams..:

    1. Thanks Hedge, the place of dreams is mystical and magical. Who knows what will transpire at any given time?

  8. Without power, in darkness and cold, you managed to produce a beautiful poem of light and hope. Kudos to you, my friend, and I hope your life has returned to some semblance of normality by now!
